Apparently LJ is going down for maintenance 10 tonight and I think that's PST because that's where the main thingamabobs are, I think. Figured I should get a post in now or lose my chance forever, or some such.

But, don't worry, there can't be another Great LJ Blackout because there is no Fangirl Holiday also occuring so we should all be spared the horror of losing our link with the outside world. That was crazy times, wasn't it? =D

Hour and a half BSG season finale tonight! W00t!!!!!! I am all sorts of excited, it's all I can think about, mostly. I hear that the new season won't start until October and that it might be moving to NBC. Waiting till October majorly sucks but it will give everybody a chance to catch up and moving to NBC could be a win-win situation for everyone.

Am feeling kinda trapped. This probably means I should get out and find some stupid part-time job or something, anything but I'm also lazy. These are not a good combination.

My grandma had bowel surgery earlier this week and according to all accounts she is doing fine. The Da, my brothers and I are going to see her tomorrow. The Mum will not be joining us because she hasn't talked to her husband's mother in nearly 20 year. Don't worry, she's equal opportunity, she hasn't talked to her family for nearly 15. Oh the drama.

You should all go out and buy the latest issue of GQ. It's only $4 (US) and has Matthew Fox on a motorcycle. The media doesn't always fail me. mmmmmmmmmm

Oy, I need a cut and color something fierce.

ETA: I saw some Logan & Weevil picspam and now I am d-loading Veronica Mars because I have to know what they are doing and why they are so hot. I'm a shallow, shallow girl.

Yesterday was a day of signs and portents. Went to the bookstore before the big salon appointment to get a magazine to read during the hair dying. The mall speakers were playing Scott Grimes' 'Sunset Boulevard' and I freaked out (BTW, freaking out in the middle of a bookstore gets you some weird looks, just so you know). Then I bought the latest edition of 'Premiere' magazine which not only had the awesomest Batman Begins article ever but also ranked Peter Jackson at the top of the 50 Most Powerful People in Hollywood list. I took all of this as very good signs that the dye job would go well.

And it did! My hair looks so different! It's very close to my own hair color but with a little added red and no grey. I am exceptionally pleased.

While I was in the salon it started storming and I'm not sure what kind of a portent that was though it sounded extremely portentous. Big claps of thunder and jagged slashes of lightning cutting through the sky.

Finally, a fic/author recommendation. Cut For Excessive but Deserved Verbiage )

It is extremely hot outside and I have not turned on the AC at my apartment. I'm just stubbornly crazy like that. I just loll about the apartment in my underwear and sleep on top of the bedclothes, it's all good. I also survive on cold products. I have eaten more whole fruit popsicles and Klondike Slim-a-Bear ice cream sandwiches in the past week then anyone ever has before. There is also iced tea but the problem with that is that once you've run out of a pitcher you have to boil water in order to make more and, well, that's a bit of an issue. Thank goodness for the delightfulness of Mexican mango juice. (Viva JuMex!)

Have an appointment tonight to get my hair cut and colored. Yes, I'm dyeing my hair. I used to swear that I'd never do that because, well, just because (this was probably another example of my crazy stubborness) but I'm kinda going grey and it's getting pretty noticeable and I'm vain, I'll admit it. ;-)

Was up uncommonly early this morning and had time to turn on the tv while eating breakfast. Flipped by an early season two episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and was reminded, once again, of how astoudingly attractive Anthony Stewart Head was/is. I obviously really have a thing for older guys. Eh, it makes a certain kind of sense.

Spent an hour this morning having fangirl discussion with the new(ish) person in the office. I may have been heard to spout such opinions as "Wash and Zoe are the greatest representation of a married couple I've ever seen on TV.", "Michael Keaton just couldn't believably portray the billionaire playboy aspect of Bruce Wayne's identity." and "Spaghetti sauce from a bottle is a kind of blasphemy."

Spent my birthday money yesterday evening buying this and this and this and some sheets I can't find pictures of and some DVDs. And a new pillow. We can't forget the luverly new fluffy pillow. I'm feeling all domestic and stuff. Shoot, I spent the rest of the evening cleaning and cutting up old, torn clothes and putting them in the scrap bag. Some day I hope to be able to make a quilt. Not that I've ever seriously quilted before but it seems the thing to do with all of those scraps.

YAY! Three day weekend! Mine will be spent in the charming company of the RHAR:EC. I will finally have the chance to meet the charming and lovely [livejournal.com profile] oselle. I imagine that this is going to be quite the weekend.

Before those festivities, however, I recently (as in yesterday) found out that my second cousin is getting married on Saturday so the Da and I will be trekking down to Dearborn to witness the nuptials. The funny thing is that we're such the familia non grata in the extended family that we never even received an invitation to the blessed event. My grandmother did call the Da this week to make sure we'd be there, though. ;-)

Why do spammers keep on thinking that I want Cialis? And why do they spam my work email account? That's just not on.

And, in reference to the song I've been listening to, "Marlene Dietrich is in Rheims? Well then I'm going to Rheims."

Yesterday was a good day. Thanks so much to all of you for your kind wishes and prezzies. Ya'll are the greatest;-).

Had dinner with the family last night. We went to an italian place in town that I'd never been to before. It was very, very yummy. Had cake at home and I opened my present. It was good.

Of course, the whole weekend has been a nice build-up to The Birthday. On Saturday had an Orgy of Shopping that included buying clothes and stuff from Bath & Bodyworks and an Emperor Palpatine action figure. I now have a grand total of three action figures, a really big Dr. Evil, Darth Maul and now the Emperor. I'm sure they're all conspiring to kill me in my sleep or some such.

Also saw Mindhunters which is a really bad movie. Stupidest FBI agents evar. Thank goodness we knew it would be less then good before going in so we weren't too terribly shocked. It was just ... dude, there are no words. *rolls eyes*

Woke up this morning in a very strange mood. I blame it all on the weird night I had last night. I woke up twice in some sort of panic, my heart pounding and my stomach in knots. Bizarre, just bizarre.

Today should be a good day and if the sun stays out it'll be even better.

ETA: Ooooo, I forgot to tell you about my skirt! I bought it during my Orgy of Shopping and it is wonderful. A little shorter then I usually wear them but it's all poofy and would be great for dancing. It's cream with a dark brown leafy pattern on it and just enough gold sequins sewn on to make it sparkle but not flash. I love it sooooo much. =D This is what I'm talking about!

I go away for the weekend and everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

Actually ... not so much;-). I just felt like saying that. This momentary insanity brought to you by my overly large and rambunctious ego.

Well, aren't I in a silly mood this morning.

Not much to report weekend-wise. Helped the Da rake up leaves in their backyard. My arms are still sore from that one. Saw Sahara which is a great, wonderful, fun movie. It is everything National Treasure wanted to be and wasn't. The adventure is a whole lot of fun and Matthew McConaughey and Steve Zahn have just about the best buddy-chemistry I've ever seen on the silver screen. If the movie suffers it's only from the lack of a good, strong central villain. Indiana Jones was really lucky to have the Nazis to fight, they're always good villains.

My hair gets greyer with every single passing day. I suppose I'll have to start dying my hair and then one day, when I'm sixty or so, I'll just stop and everyone will be surprised by how I went grey 'over night'. Oy.

The National Brownfields Assocation is holding their annual conference in Denver this year. When the time comes to fight Randall Flagg I'm sure we'll all be grateful to have a bunch of tree-hugging environmentalists on our side.
