People, you need to convince me not to buy t-shirts. I'm going crazy over at Cafepress and Threadless and there's a lawyer one at Glarkware that says 'Lawyers Do It In Front of a Jury of Their Peers' and I want that one too! I just retired all of my old high school t-shirts (they're all over a decade old and yet it pains me to get rid of anything that's still in one piece) and I do not need to replenish the supply. But I want to! And I need more fannish t-shirts, the only one I have is my 'Have You Hugged a Hobbit Today?' which I love but it's getting lonely.
Seriously people, talk me out of it. I must be stopped.
To distract myself I'll do that meme that everyone's been doing (besides the interview one) and inform you all of my five favorite stories written by me.
Above All Shadows (LotR, Sam Gamgee)
This is the very first piece of fanfiction I ever wrote and it came to me in a flash of inspiration, finally burning away the wall that was keeping me from ficcing. I'm still terribly proud of the way it turned out.
Focal Points (SV, Chloe Sullivan)
I was never a huge
Smallville fan but I really enjoyed the character of Chloe Sullivan and this cracked-out little AU appeared from the randomest of inspiration. I really enjoyed how it all came together and the way I could see everything happening as I was writing it.
A Woman's Touch (James Bond movies, Moneypenny)
Another example of my love of AUs and the reimagined character. This is all about Moneypenny being the sort of spy who actually gets things done, unlike James Bond who primarily succeeds in blowing shit up. From now on, whenever I see one of those old school Bond movies this is the way I view the characters.
One Artist to Another (BSG/Firefly, YoSaffBridge & Ellen Tigh)
This isn't the best written of any of my stories but I'm still ridiculously fond of the concept. It was also a blast having the chance to get inside of Ellen Tigh's head and see the universe through her eyes. This was also the story that taught me to take fandom with a grain of salt and that I should only ever write because I love it. That's what it's really all about, the love.
Roadtrippin' With My Brother (Supernatural, Sam&Dean)
Because I went camping with my brothers and thought about Winchesters the entire time. Because I gave Dean a grenade and he got to blow up a huge water serpent. Because Sam got covered in serpent guts and had to strip down and wash off in the lake. Because the boys deserve some fun after the season they've been having. And because, finally, I got to give the boys some good memories to take away from Michigan rather then freaked out, Saginaw based ones.
Honorary Mention:
Burn My Sins Away (HP, Ron Weasley [w/ a 'blink and you'll miss it' BtVS crossover])
This story helped me exorcise demons. I got to angst and emo and get sunburned in Africa and then learn how to find my way home again. It still stands as the best thing I've ever written, in my humble opinion.
And, because it's Thursday and yet another re-run, here's some more
( Supernatural Music )ETA: OMG, I forgot to say, THANK YOU
cunien!!!!!! I got your postcard today. Errr, rather the postcard from Dean and Sammy. It's adorable! I don't know how you got them to show up on the other side of the Pond but I'm sure you're showing them both a great time. *wink* Thanks for making sure they dropped me a line in the midst of all of their other ... activities. You ROCK!
