I made this mix a very long time ago and, for some reason, never posted it. Then my computer crashed and I lost the cover art but now here it is, new art and everything.

I still love Martha Jones so much. She's just awesome.

I put together a Castiel-centric mix which I would now like to share with all of you. Many thanks to Mumford & Sons for their awesome song 'The Cave' which is, quite possibly, the perfect Castiel song.

Show Me The Way )

There you have it. I haven't been completely unproductive during the past few months. Castiel is always a priority, after all.

Also, two mixes in one week? What is the world coming to?

In celebration of the new season of Supernatural here is my season 5 mix. Because nothing says "I love you best" like sharing free music with the internet in your honor.

Hello all! Let us see, what is there to report ... Things are a little better, well, hopefully. *knocks on wood* I don't know yet for sure for sure if everything is golden but I feel a little less stressed, so, bonus.

I posted a mix over at [livejournal.com profile] spretendn yesterday. Of all of the mixes I've made it's one of my favorites. Even if the character doesn't interest you, the music may very well be relevant to such.

Spent the bulk of today talking with [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr about Skip and Castiel being Q in our SPN/ST fusion 'verse. [FYI by Skip I mean Skip. You know, the Trickster by any other name.] It's been a lot of fun and may have involved Skip dressing them up as pirates.

Remember that DS9 episode where Sisko punched Q in the face and Q was all "Picard never punched me in the face" and Sisko was like "I'm not Picard." in that great Sisko way of his? Yeah, it's kind of like that, except for how Q was already in love with Picard so he just never felt like bothering Sisko again and Skip has all kinds of time to bother John and the Impala had Dean on it and, well, we all know what that means for Castiel.

Yeah, good times.

I don't really have much to say beyond that. I've kind of decided to ignore the wilds of fandom, they seem to be fairly screechy and offensive of late, what with all of their wanting to kill Lisa Braeden and screaming about how people pointing out their racist/sexist/transphobic stories/beliefs/actions/behaviors is oppressing them. I, just, seriously, what the fuck? I know there are a lot of stupid, privileged people out there but, damn, do they seem to be popping up all over the place this summer.

So yeah fandom, do what you've gotta do (and thank all that's holy for the awesome people who have stepped up and continue to step up to school these morons, you guys rock in every possible way). I'm going to be over here, playing quietly in my corner of the sandbox because there are only so many battles I can fight and RL is beating enough stuffing out of me as it is.

In conclusion: Winchesters in Space for all!!!!!!!

I have been very productive today. I've organized books and washed sheets and I've even gotten my Star Trek mix all ready for posting! So I think I'll share that with you all now.

Come Together )

*happy sigh* I love Star Trek so damn much.

I was recently re-uploading my The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe mix (as per a request) when I realized that I had never shared the Prince Caspian mix that I put together a long time ago. So I think I'll do that now. Hey, it beats outlining. =D

Title: Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
Fandom: Supernatural
Disclaimer: Alas, Kripke and the WB own it all. Here’s hoping they picked up on that lesson about sharing right before naptime.
Rating: PG-13 (language, violence, and intense situations)
Spoilers: A sequel to More Than Just a Pretty Face and while this story stands on its own reading the prior story could definitely be helpful. Set during the front half of SPN Season 4 with general plot spoilers for the bulk of the season.
Author’s Note: This, like the vast majority of my work, would not have been possible without [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr and [livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth. They both cheerleaded during the planning stage and beta’d during the editing stage. Their love and enthusiasm made all of this possible.

Summary: Three blonde chicks walk into a bar. It might sound like the beginning of a joke but you’d better watch your back 'cause these chicks will fuck your shit up.

( The figure in the grass stood and shutter-jerked across the field, its eyes dark holes. )

I've been really mood swing-y today. It's kind of pissing me off. And I haven't accomplished anything except back tagging some old lj posts. This lj is now tagged up through January 2009. I might suck at tagging on any given post but I am fairly fond of archiving, so there you go.

Oh! I know what I can do. I can upload my SPN season four mix for you all. Good good.

Ain't Seen Nothing Yet )

Enjoy!

In further celebration of Supernatural Day, here is a mix I put together in honor of season three. Plz to enjoy.

In celebration of the fact that s.3 starts tomorrow I am offering music. Actually, I'm offering the season two mix I put together. It's got some great, Winchester-y music in it. Just click the link and revel in the musical love!

Don't Fear The Reaper )

More mix-y fun. Supernatural is such a music-based show that it inspires mixes and playlists like nothing else. Anyway, it was John's turn to get a little love.

Because you can't have Sam without Dean I present:

Carry That Weight: A Dean Winchester fanmix )

In other news, have been in a "mood" all day. Hopefully a little Who will knock me right out of that. ;-)
liptonrm_backup: (Default)
You know what the biggest problem with wanks and kerfluffles and the like? It all serves to drive fannish output down to right around 0 which is simply not acceptable. So, in the interests of encouraging fans to step away from their panic buttons and get back to doing the important things, namely entertaining each other, I come bearing stuff.

Thursday's Child: A Sam Winchester Fanmix )

Today is a day for Sammy love. That means it's a good day.

Also had this conversation last night:

Me: Have you heard? They've released the season two dvd details and Kim Manners and Jared & Jensen are going to do a commentary for 'In My Time of Dying'.
Baylor Sister: That's awesome. Just imagine the RPS that'll spawn! It'll be like the LotR commentaries with Billy and Dom or Sean and Elijah.
Me: I know. It'll be great.
Baylor Sister: Cause Kim Manners kinda looks like one of those old hippies who shows up on those HBO sex shows. You know, the kind that has all sorts of kinky threesome sex.
Me: *hysterical laughter*
Baylor Sister: I can't even understand what you're saying.
Me: *still laughing* This conversation has to be preserved for posterity.

People, you need to convince me not to buy t-shirts. I'm going crazy over at Cafepress and Threadless and there's a lawyer one at Glarkware that says 'Lawyers Do It In Front of a Jury of Their Peers' and I want that one too! I just retired all of my old high school t-shirts (they're all over a decade old and yet it pains me to get rid of anything that's still in one piece) and I do not need to replenish the supply. But I want to! And I need more fannish t-shirts, the only one I have is my 'Have You Hugged a Hobbit Today?' which I love but it's getting lonely.

Seriously people, talk me out of it. I must be stopped.

To distract myself I'll do that meme that everyone's been doing (besides the interview one) and inform you all of my five favorite stories written by me.

Above All Shadows (LotR, Sam Gamgee)
This is the very first piece of fanfiction I ever wrote and it came to me in a flash of inspiration, finally burning away the wall that was keeping me from ficcing. I'm still terribly proud of the way it turned out.

Focal Points (SV, Chloe Sullivan)
I was never a huge Smallville fan but I really enjoyed the character of Chloe Sullivan and this cracked-out little AU appeared from the randomest of inspiration. I really enjoyed how it all came together and the way I could see everything happening as I was writing it.

A Woman's Touch (James Bond movies, Moneypenny)
Another example of my love of AUs and the reimagined character. This is all about Moneypenny being the sort of spy who actually gets things done, unlike James Bond who primarily succeeds in blowing shit up. From now on, whenever I see one of those old school Bond movies this is the way I view the characters.

One Artist to Another (BSG/Firefly, YoSaffBridge & Ellen Tigh)
This isn't the best written of any of my stories but I'm still ridiculously fond of the concept. It was also a blast having the chance to get inside of Ellen Tigh's head and see the universe through her eyes. This was also the story that taught me to take fandom with a grain of salt and that I should only ever write because I love it. That's what it's really all about, the love.

Roadtrippin' With My Brother (Supernatural, Sam&Dean)
Because I went camping with my brothers and thought about Winchesters the entire time. Because I gave Dean a grenade and he got to blow up a huge water serpent. Because Sam got covered in serpent guts and had to strip down and wash off in the lake. Because the boys deserve some fun after the season they've been having. And because, finally, I got to give the boys some good memories to take away from Michigan rather then freaked out, Saginaw based ones.

Honorary Mention: Burn My Sins Away (HP, Ron Weasley [w/ a 'blink and you'll miss it' BtVS crossover])
This story helped me exorcise demons. I got to angst and emo and get sunburned in Africa and then learn how to find my way home again. It still stands as the best thing I've ever written, in my humble opinion.

And, because it's Thursday and yet another re-run, here's some more Supernatural Music )

ETA: OMG, I forgot to say, THANK YOU [livejournal.com profile] cunien!!!!!! I got your postcard today. Errr, rather the postcard from Dean and Sammy. It's adorable! I don't know how you got them to show up on the other side of the Pond but I'm sure you're showing them both a great time. *wink* Thanks for making sure they dropped me a line in the midst of all of their other ... activities. You ROCK!

Mid-winter TV hiatuses suck. Just when the weather is at its crappiest they deny us new episodes of our favorite shows. Bleh.

And the weather is really, really crappy.

Am in a music-y mood today. Yes, I've been listening to Alanis Morissette all day. Shut up, sometimes I need some angry chick music. I wouldn't have gotten through college without it. ;-)

Just re-uploaded my Supernatural mix complete with pretty new cover art. Consider it my gift to all of you on this bleak and dreary Thursday.

Also, how about some Music from Season One )

My torts professor showed this video in class this week. I cracked up at the end of it. Click on the link to discover the answer to all of life's problems. =D

Have started making weekly crock-pot meals. It's amazing how long those leftovers will tide me over. I'm so domestic sometimes it's frightening. Take, for example, the fact that I will be cleaning out my tub tonight. Being all responsible can be a very strange sensation.

BTW, never try any of those frozen Marie Callender crock-pot meal-in-a-bag things. They are disgusting.

Okay, I should go be productive and stuff. Or maybe read fic.

ETA: WTF?! It's thundering and snowing at the same time! Michigan is so weird.
liptonrm_backup: (Default)
I was up until 5:30 in the morning. I can't believe that. My sleep patterns get awfully strange during break. Church was at 1PM and I still slept through it. *facepalm*

As much as I love Winchesters another thing I love about Supernatural is the feel of it, the way it's steeped in Americana and American folklore. It has a blue-collar, gritty aesthetic that you just don't get on TV all that often unless it's being laughed at.

A couple months ago I realized I had a bunch of country/folk/bluegrass songs that strongly reminded me of that setting but weren't very "Winchester-y" (one of the songs was a cover of 'Stairway to Heaven' by Dolly Parton which I love but that Dean would salt and burn on general principle). I determined that what the world apparently needed was a "Hunter's Mix", so this is for all of the people who haven't made it into the story yet but are out there, doing their job.

Smoke On The Water )

Maybe this'll help tide us over until Thursday. Man, the closer it gets the further it seems.

ETA: It's snowing. FUCK yeah!

Quick holiday update.

Yesterday spent some time over at Toys for Tots with [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr helping parents pick out gifts for their kids. It was a good experience and I'm glad La Baylor (or was it her Sister, it's hard to differentiate sometimes) had the bright idea to invite me along.

My apartment smells like gingerbread. It's a really nice, homey smell. Gingerbread cookies are kinda, sorta, more of a pain to bake then I had remembered. Mostly they take constant vigilance or else they burn and, well, I think I burnt almost half of them. Well, 'burnt' as in, "I'm not going to give these to friends and neighbours" but not so burnt that I won't eat them. My father's example has taught me many things, not least of which is how to appreciate the still tasty cookies that no one else will eat. ;-)

For any interested I made New England Molasses Gingerbread Cookies and they really are quite tasty.

Finally, as my holiday gift to you all, I offer A Little Holiday Cheer )

Happy Holidays!
