Jan. 7th, 2007 03:42 pmI was up until 5:30 in the morning. I can't believe that. My sleep patterns get awfully strange during break. Church was at 1PM and I still slept through it. *facepalm*
As much as I love Winchesters another thing I love about Supernatural is the feel of it, the way it's steeped in Americana and American folklore. It has a blue-collar, gritty aesthetic that you just don't get on TV all that often unless it's being laughed at.
A couple months ago I realized I had a bunch of country/folk/bluegrass songs that strongly reminded me of that setting but weren't very "Winchester-y" (one of the songs was a cover of 'Stairway to Heaven' by Dolly Parton which I love but that Dean would salt and burn on general principle). I determined that what the world apparently needed was a "Hunter's Mix", so this is for all of the people who haven't made it into the story yet but are out there, doing their job.

Smoke On The Water: A Hunter's Mix
1. Vienna Teng - Drought
2. Images - Ave Verum Corpus
3. Neko Case - Wayfaring Stranger
4. Dar Williams - Mercy of the Fallen
5. Soundgarden - Holy Water
6. Counting Crows - Friend of the Devil
7. Fleetwood Mac - Never Going Back Again
8. Bonnie Raitt - Everybody's Crying Mercy
9. Pearl Jam - Spin the Black Circle
10. Dolly Parton - Stairway To Heaven
11. Bob Dylan - I Shall Be Released
12. El Poder Del Norte - Carabina 30/30
13. Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World
14. Thea Gilmore - Apparition No. 12
15. Alison Krauss & Union Station - Let Me Touch You For A While
16. Melissa Etheridge - Sleep While I Drive
Maybe this'll help tide us over until Thursday. Man, the closer it gets the further it seems.
ETA: It's snowing. FUCK yeah!

Date: 2007-01-17 12:47 am (UTC)I'm happy about snow because that means the weather has returned to normal. Things have just been wrong and off without it. Pathetic, but true.
Wow, snowstorms in your neck of the woods suck. Though I am vaguely amused by how snow days go from 'awesome' to 'horrible' when you're not a student anymore. ;-)

Date: 2007-06-03 02:04 am (UTC)You're very welcome for the music! And, wow, way to have your name become notorious for all the wrong reasons. Shoot.

Date: 2007-06-03 01:54 pm (UTC)Is there a link that has the whole mix in one DL? Maybe I'm just being an idiot, but I can't see one.

Date: 2007-06-03 03:57 pm (UTC)There is something special about the way the series is so much a part of American life-- or perhaps more accurately all the little things we sometimes take for granted along with the larger storyline. Sometimes when I'm traveling through back country roads and small towns I find myself thinking about how it would look from the Winchester's pov-- the hole in the wall economy motels they would be looking for, the little diners, etc.
Thanks for the mix!

Date: 2007-06-03 06:24 pm (UTC)And yeah, one of my favorite things about SPN is just the sheer American-ness of it. It's like it could take place in the little, backroad town you pass as you drive down the highway, never giving it a second glance. I love it.
Thanks for this! :D
