So, I broke down last week and bought Batman: Under the Red Hood. Which, yeah, duh, it combines two of my favorite things, Batman and Jensen Ackles. Plus the rest of the voice cast is fantastic. It was a most excellent movie with all of the violence and mangst one would expect from the storyline. I love you so very much you fucked up Batfamily.

I think Bruce Greenwood may be the best not-Kevin Conroy Batman I've ever heard. Good job Captain Pike!

And I might have squealed when Red Hood mentioned the friends that Joker had paralyzed because OMG an Oracle shout-out! They really, really, really, really have to make a Birds of Prey animated movie. That would make my life complete.

Also, while I was at the store I bought the first season of Batman: TAS. It was on sale for $20 and I couldn't resist. And ever since I've been watching episodes non-stop. IT'S SO AWESOME! I love how well it stands up, even after all of these years! Harvey Dent! Mark Hamill as the Joker! Catwoman! Kate Mulgrew as Red Claw! ALFRED!!!!!!! I'm almost to the end of the season and I don't know what I'll do! Well, obviously, I'll have to buy season two as soon as fiscally possible. Because I have to get to the Batgirl episodes, I just have to.

And it's times like this when I wish I still had ten billionty icons, just so I could share a little more Batman love with you.

na na na na na na na na BATMAN, BATMAN BAT LEADER

Title: Getting the Job Done
Fandom: Batman Begins/The Dark Knight
Rating: PG-13
Summary: There are still reasons to fight.

Author's Note: Right after I saw The Dark Knight the first line of this fic popped into my head. I've been waiting to write it ever since. This is kind of on-the-fly and it's weirdly in second person but it works for me. Sometimes you wonder why anyone in his/her/its right mind would ever stay around Gotham, especially since horrible things won't stop happening. Hopefully this helps answer that question, at least in this particular case.

And I guess this fic could be sub-titled 'Law School is Good for Something After All.' ;-)

( You do it because you’re a frigging masochist )

ETA: This is also my attempt to show that Rachel Dawes was more than just a Woman in a Refrigerator, no matter what Chris Nolan might lead you to believe.

Bleh, my brain has been so soft and spongy of late. Silly brain, melting in the heat.

Saw the X-Files movie on Friday and loved it. I don't think it's very spoilery to tell you that I thought it was like really great fanfiction, the kind that always makes you say, after finishing the last word, "Man, that would make an awesome episode." I went in with absolutely zero expectations and came away with much squeeful happiness. MULDER&SCULLY FTW!

BTW, I love Vancouver, love it to itty bitty pieces. But that kind of goes without saying. ;-)

Saw Dark Knight in IMAX with the brothers last night. If you can go see it in IMAX, you really should. The city shots and the action scenes look incredible. The details just pop. Really, very cool looking. Still absolutely dig that movie.

Also, for those who remember my tiny little DK quibble, this story by [livejournal.com profile] minim_calibre helps make it all better. I love Bats so very, very much.

Went to the Detroit Institute of Art with all of the fam except the Da today. The DIA is a wonderful art musesum and it was a very nice trip. I always have a new favorite part and today's was the Rivera Court. A little cliche, I know, but how can you not love the statement that old Bolshevik was making to the industrial leaders of the world? No wonder Frida Kahlo was in love with that crazy bastard.

Writing has been fiendishly hard the past week, and today's surprise excursion didn't help matters. I'm sure you all will be happy to know, however, that the next chapter is off with beta. Progress is progress is progress, after all. And if I'm very good tonight and tomorrow, maybe I'll let myself write that little Dark Knight fic that popped into my head a week or so ago. I'm sure it will surprise absolutely none of you that it is primarily about female characters. Yeap, I'm nothing if not predictable.

*<3s you all*

Christmas came and went and was joyful and happy and overwhelming, same as always. I got some pretty exciting loot and had the joy of picking out some great gifts for the rest of the fam. Spent most on the Da but seeing as Band of Brothers also works as a gift for myself I don't regret a penny of it.

I got the Collector's Edition of Batman Begins that comes with a nifty graphic novel. As we were watching the movie last night I had a neat thought. Read more... )

Because Christmas was on a Sunday we had to wake up at the crack of dawn if we wanted to open presents before church. It was kind of neat, reminded me of the old days when my brothers and I wouldn't be able to sleep all night because we were so excited. It was especially poignant to have both of my brothers at home. This was the first time in 5 years that we've been a family for the holidays.

Got out and saw King Kong the Friday before Christmas. Read more... )

The New Year is nearly upon us. I wonder what 2006 will hold for us all.

Watched Batman Begins with the Da last night. Great movie, as always. I'm fairly certain the Da enjoyed it because the snarky comments tapered off after a while and he just sat there, enjoying the movie.

[livejournal.com profile] hiyacynth, we're totally going to have to talk to your not-a-cousin-really Bruce and see about getting you one of those GPS systems for your car. If Jim Gordon, a Chicago Gotham native, had to use it to get from one place to another then you certainly deserve to have one.

Upon watching some deleted scenes on the RotS dvd I have come to the conclusion that the reason why Bail Organa and his wife never had children was that Bail was gay and his wife loved and supported him in his life style choice. Apparently the Old Republic was still a little backward on things like that and he never would have become a Senator if the truth had generally been known. Guess the Old Republic wasn't the perfect realm of justice and dignity that it prided itself on being.

Either that or Jimmy Smits was purposefully camping it up to get back at Grand Overlord Lucas. I have a feeling that Georgie Boy has issues with teh gay and teh slash. Not that I know anything for sure, let's just call it intuition or 'The Force' and leave it at that. ;-)

Did some raking in the backyard, a definite downside to having to live with one's folks, again. It was so gorgeous before I took the rake out, golden above and golden below. Then I went out and cut a wide swath in the fair carpet and got dog crap on my shoes. Aaaah, the joys of home ownership.

La la la Oooo! Shiny! *wanders away aimlessly*

The weather's been crazy this weekend. There was a really, really big storm that blew through here yesterday morning. Cut off my power, had me all freaked out because I was half awake and it was thundering and there was lightening and the trees were blowing around in the wind. I woke up enough to close my windows but not enough to notice that the electricity had gone out. I slept through church, it was unfortunate.

Then it got hot, hot, hot and it looks to be staying that way for a while. There goes my electric bill, spiking again. Grrrrr. Don't even have camping to look forward to this weekend because the Da had a prior commitment he had conveniently forgotten about. It's only a week delay but, still, I was looking forward to some time off.

Bitch, bitch, bitch. Moan, moan, moan, I know. I'm pathetic. =D The Big Lug thinks we should use our joint movie gift card to go see either Wedding Crashers or The Island. I informed him that I'm anti-Michael Bay movies. He informed me that The Island was filmed in Detroit, a fact I had conveniently relegated to the scrap yard portion of my brain. Considering how much random info I have packed in there it takes a special kind of info to get shoved into the scrap yard. Detroit + Sean Bean + Djimon Honsou + Steve Buscemi + Ewan MacGregor = I might have to see The Island. However Scarlett Johanson + Michael Bay = I'm extremely trepidatious. But, dude, Detroit!

I'm kind of in love with Entourage. Last night they had Dale Dye teaching Vince how to scuba dive. Next week the gang is going to ComiCon. Be still my geeky l'il fangirl heart.

I'm also really, really, a lot in love with Justice League and the season finale they aired on Saturday night. I don't have words enough to express my love. It was All Batman, All the Time and I was in heaven.

Finally, let us meme. There's that top 5 list thing going around so ask me to rank anything and I will attempt to do so. Have at it.

My brain is a gelatinous substance. Seriously. I can't seem to focus on anything and spend my days mindlessly surfing the internets, not really taking anything in. I suppose it's just one of those weeks. I'd really like some of my brain power back, plzkthx.

La la la, saw Batman Begins in IMAX last night. That's viewing #3 and it's all hella expensive but Batman is so worth it. I love that movie. I could watch it over and over and over again. I also feel as if I'm the only person on the planet who likes Katie Holmes character and wants to see the character come back for the next movie even if the actress doesn't. She's so much more then the 'love interest' and could kick Mary Jane Watson's ass anytime, any place.

Have my fingers crossed that the Pistons beat the Spurs into submission tonight. Freakin' San Antonio. *grumble grumble*

I hear that the Tigers have been playing the Giants for the first time evar. I see that the Vortex's powers are stretching out into the world of sports. End of Days, baby, End of Days.

Do you ever feel like there's something really important that you should be saying/doing/typing but for the life of you you can't remember what it was and the feeling just keeps on gnawing at you and nothing really comes of it? Yeap, welcome to my life.
liptonrm_backup: (Default)
I have seen Batman Begins and it was glorious! I loved everything about it, I even loved Katie Holmes' character! This is how much I love and adore this movie! I saw it on Friday and then I saw it again on Saturday and either tonight or tomorrow night I'm going to see it in IMAX. If I had millions and millions of dollars I would give them to Christopher Nolan just to insure that he would make more movies in this franchise.

At the Friday viewing saw the trailer for Serenity and it was really cool. I had watched it online like three times that day as I was bored at work but seeing it on the big screen is pretty dang remarkable and Sooper Sekrit Message for Hiyacynth )

I can't get over my reaction to this movie. I thought I would love it and hoped I would love it and knew that Christian Bale would be an awsesome Batman so I had pretty high expectations going in and I'm so giddygiddygiddy that they've been met and spectacularly exceeded.

And, on a more shallow note, I've got to move to Gotham because even the villains there are extraordinarily hot. I loved Cillian Murphy before this but now, wow. *is speechless*

In completely other news, why is it that talking to my mother on the telephone makes me need to eat a comfort snack? I don't think that's the reaction she intended when she called. ;-)
