Well, my Palm Pilot died on me so anyone who's address I once had if you would be so kind as to send it to me again I would be much obliged. Technology, bah.

I read the worst fantasy book the other day. It was something I picked up on a whim, teaching me, once again, that all fantasy must be carefully vetted before purchase. It was like some badfic that I would've read online for kicks but instead of being free it cost me over $7. It had all of the badfic tropes, a Mary Sue with blonde curls and jewel-toned eyes who even the baddest of the bad loved, talking animals, rape, child abuse, whore-assasins with hearts of gold, incest, and, the worst sin of all, poor plot advancement. All I've gotta say is that if people like that can get published then everyone on my f-list should have no problems, evar.

If I were to one day teach a writing class I'd simply advise that all potential writers go out into the world of the internet and try to write fanfic. If you're serious that'll cure you of every possible ill. Talk about trial by fire.

Speaking of reading, The Fans' Reading Group is gearing up to read another book. If you're at all interested head on over there and you can help us choose which book we're going to read. It should be fun!

I woke up this morning and everything was covered in white. It wasn't snow, however, it was slush. It slushed last night. How bizarre. Then, this evening, we had a thunder storm. I am officially bemused.

Just had to cancel my Netflix account to save money. *le sigh* Well, it's not like I ever had much opportunity to watch dvds at the parents' house anyway.

And on and on and on we turn.

It is so gorgeous outside that I can hardly believe it's real. The sun is shining, the air is warm and the day is perfectly beautiful. The only things that would make this better are leaves on the trees and not being at work.

I watched 'Beyond the Sea' from season one X-Files last night. Wow. I'd forgotten what an amazing episode it is. Brad Dourif sent chills down my back and Gillian Anderson owned every scene she was in. I was completely and utterly captivated. mmmmmmmmmm I <3 Scully.

I have heard that in a recent episode of that new Law & Order show Joe Toye is shown wearing a newsie cap. Oh.My.Gosh. I need screencaps and pictures, stat.

I also popped my latest Netflix rental into the dvd player last night. It was Woman of the Year starring Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy and it's a fascinating film. As a modern woman I don't completely agree with all of the sexual messages of the film, but then again it's extremely progressive for its time. The script is layered full of character and social observation and it more then deserved the Oscar for that year. I'd never seen a Hepburn/Tracy film before and am now completely won over by the two of them. Wow. What actors, what chemistry. It's a good flick and one that I'll be mulling over for quite a while.

For anyone who's interested, here's a list of the next 20 movies currently residing in my Netflix queue.

Baylor plays MSU in the women's NCAA basketball championship tonight. This amuses me.
