Bleh. Bleh. Bleh.

Good news: The Wrestler comes home from Chile on October 19th. *does happy sister dance of joy*

Bad news: I lose my job in a week and a half and have not found one to take its place.

Other news: House )

Good news: Lost season 2 premiere is tonight. Yay!

Bad news: Life is aggravating and I don't want to do it anymore.

Other news: I think I'll take a nap. There's no one here at work to see me anyway. ;-)

Word Origin of the Day: Yonder - Currently a colloquialism common in the southern United States, this word has a long history in English. It orignated in Old English as geond, meaning "away" or "there." A more formal related version of the same word - with the same background - is found with "beyond."

Woke up this morning not wanting to get out of bed. It was supposed to rain last night and when I woke up I knew it hadn't (don't ask me how, I had the A/C on all night, I couldn't have heard it if it had). Laying there I couldn't deal with another day that was hot and sunny. I was all tapped out.

Happily it has since rained. Oh clouds, how I love you.

Tuesday Night TV )

So, you know how I felt like I was actively getting worse at this LSAT thing? Apparently I was being a little hard on myself as my score went up 5 points on the prep test I took on Monday. If it goes up by two more points I'll get a free ride to the local law school, which poses me with a bit of a dilemma, low cost or prestige? Thankfully I don't have to decide anything until all of the applications have been processed.

My da's a good guy. He bought me a scone this morning. I don't think he knows that I'm dieting so how can I refuse? It's sitting there, taunting me with its carby goodness. mmmmmm Sometimes evil is very tasty.

I'm getting very excited about The Fans' Reading Group. Three weeks till we start discussing our inagural book, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The more people who join the more excited I get. Come on, my friends, it'll be a lot of fun. And we'll have virtual punch and pie. You know you wanna join. *hint [livejournal.com profile] fansreading hint* < /wheedling>

New season of House starts tonight, ya'll. Most exciting. What is it with me and the sarcastic, intelligent, darkly attractive wounded type? It can't be healthy.

You know, I really shouldn't read Orson Scott Card's website, especially the political stuff. It only serves to aggravate me. But, since I did ...

Response and Blame and Disaster )

In other, less frustrating news, I saw a charming article last night in 'Detail' magazine on Matthew Fox. I think I'm a little bit in love. ;-) He seems to be one of those down to earth, man's man types. It's no wonder that Dom is so fond of him. The article's author compared him to George Clooney and Robert Redford, men who straight guys are unashamed to have crushes on. It was delightful.

And informative. Apparently the cast members felt a little like the "bastard step-children" (Fox's words) of the ABC family. The cast of Desperate Housewives get bonuses and swanky presents and all sorts of attention from the suits. It's bad for morale. Makes me want to fly to Hawaii and say, 'Don't worry, I love you.' Because I do.

ETA: Have been listening to the Roberts Supreme Court nomination hearings. Wow, he's smooth. He's a better politician then the guy who nominated him. Makes me wonder if ol' GW doesn't have a little bit of a crush. ;-)
