Happy Monday, all. Is it possible for a Monday morning to truly be happy when it brings a week of wage slavery? Are we doomed to forever be caught in a perniscious cycle of freedom and bondage?

Dude, way too deep for a Monday morning.

I have gone past the 'I am vaguely amused by this huge motherfucker of a hurricane that is about to hit New Orleans' stage to the 'The nice person on NPR just said that New Orleans may never be the same and I've never been there but *SOB!*' stage. It's horrible. Thoughts, prayers and if anyone needs a place to crash and is willing to come hundreds of miles north my couch is pretty dang comfortable and my bathroom is clean.

Started reading the Weather Warden trilogy by Rachel Caine (who is also [livejournal.com profile] rachelcaine and, yes, I did pick up the first book because I had seen her on a friend of a friends list. LJ is viral). It's a strange serendipity to go from reading a book about storms to seeing a huge one on tv.

Watched insane amounts of television last night. Rome was awesome. It hasn't kicked me in the gut yet but it's always nice to see a show slowly and carefully building up characters and plots. It's all nice and chewy. I will have to mull everything over and get back to you. Very satisfying.

Entourage was very good, as well. Best episode of the season. Ari Gold can by my Super Agent of the Universe any day.

OMG! Narnia pictures! Look at the Pevensies! They're so wee! These pictures make me want to have lots of adorable little children of my own. So Precious!

Ooo! Ooo! Looky! Dom's movie The Purifiers releases on dvd in the States tomorrow! I've already got it all queued up. Now two sides of my OCD are waging war because on the one hand DOM! and on the other hand the list must not be changed, everything must come in its appointed order. The Crazy begins.

Lots of love to you all. Especially to any in the face of an unforgiving Category 4 hurricane and to those may physically be far away but whose lives feel buffeted and tossed around.

Monday's can be happy. However this Monday looks to be the day the entire lab falls apart.

This hurricane keeps making me feel guilty. On the one hand there's a lot of "oh wow" and "oh my god" and feeling really sorry for all the people and stuff. On the other hand, the scientist-geek in me is drooling over the beautiful radar images and saying "oh cool" to awesome forces of nature.

Keep us posted on Rome! Especailly Harry!

*love back atcha*

Yes, yes, that strange divide between human emotion and scientific curiosity. I understand it well. Course, in my case I tend to spend my time hopping between humanity and sardonic humor. If I didn't laugh I'd cry, etc.

Will most certainly keep everyone updated on Rome. Rick didn't show up last night but I have every hope of his appearing next week. I have a feeling the show is going to add layer after layer after layer with every new episode. *shivers in anticipation*

I'm on the "Oh my God I want to do CNN's Rob Marciano" stage.

I don't think there's any getting past that stage.

I've spent the last week continuing my near-total media blackout. CDs and DVDs only all weekend, and then last night I realized that this hurricane I'd sort of been hearing about toward the end of the week was about to freaking wipe out the gulf coast. I have guilt over my cluelessness.

Hey, no guilt allowed! I didn't realize it was anything special until yesterday, either. And then I was laughing about it. Well, not HAHAHAHA! but definitely teeheeheehee.

You know what this means, though, right? End of the freaking world. *prepares*

I, too, mourn for New Orleans. Darned hurricane makes it almost pull an Atlantis before I've even been ther. *sob*

"Narnia" is going to be so cool. I get chills every time I see the trailer, and your link to the pics have brightened my day. Thanks!

Oh, and I have your mixes ready. As soon as I get am envelope, they'll be on the way to you. :)

Freakin' Hurricane Katrina. But, you know, it is comforting to know that other cities (San Francisco, Detroit, D.C., London, Dresden, Berlin) have been devestated and have emerged again. The buildings were changed but the spirit of the cities was the same.

I can't wait for the movie. It's not LotR level of anticipation but it's up there.

Yay! Mixes! And, you know, I have some music laying around that I could send your way, if you wanted.

The great cities will never die. They may be mauled beyond recognition, but they will rise again. *spits at hurricanes and other natural disasters*

I don't think I could turn down an offer of music. That would be lovely. :)
