Jul. 28th, 2005 09:35 amHave emerged from the depths of wallowing. It was a good and necessary step. There seems to be a pattern to the whole thing. First there is the stunned disbelief, then the crying. After that is the depression and spiral of self recrimination that leads to extra large amounts of sleep in an attempt to forestall the mental castigation. Last comes the chocolate consumption combined with the getting on of life.
I couldn't discuss Plan B yesterday as Plan B was dead to me at the time. Now I can discuss it with impunity. I will now be applying to law schools. I take the LSAT in October ($115 to register. WTF is up with that?!). I have very little idea on where I would like to go to school so if any of you have any favorite law schools or schools in your area that you would like to pimp, please feel free. I would kind of like to get out of Michigan, if at all possible.
My action figure habit is threatening to spiral out of control In the past day I have won two eBay auctions, one for a Sam Gamgee and the other for a season 1 Buffy. This is getting kind of ludicrous but OMG! I can't stop! Must have more action figures!
Have I mentioned lately that I have the greatest friends a girl could ask for? Because if I haven't then I really ought to. 'Cause ya'll really are the bee's knees.

Date: 2005-07-28 03:32 pm (UTC)I'm seriously toying with applying for law school myself in a year or two, but at the moment am mostly stuck realizing how much I don't know about law school.
The only thing I do know is that different schools have different strengths so you may want to consider what type of law you want to go into and look for schools good at that. How to find them, I don't know.
Oh, and I got recommended by someone currenly in law school to read a book called One L because it us supposedly an accurate account of what law school is like.
That and all my law school relatives have assured me over the past week that law degrees are really useful and get me into all kinds of doors.
I think you can also petition to have the fee for the LSAT waived or shrunk or something...
Good luck! Keep us posted and hang in there, because you're awesome and something good is required to come your way soon.

Date: 2005-07-28 05:10 pm (UTC)Book sounds interesting, will have to look it up.
Law school does lead to many things. Just look at Josh Lyman, he went to law school and is now deputy chief of staff. Not that I base my life on a fictional character, of course not ...

Date: 2005-07-28 05:29 pm (UTC)It also probably depends if you want to do something more general or more specialized. I mean, I think if you want general practice type thingies any school will have it. But I know if I go into it I want to do Environmental law (or *maybe* public interest) and that is super specialized so I'd have to hunt down schools.
Oh right. Definitely. Definitely not base any part of life on Josh or Sam or Toby(?) being lawyers. Watching The West Wing for the first time these past few months has definitely not increased my interests in law/policy just like M*A*S*H definitely didn't increase my interest in medicine.
wait. you say they're fiction? :)
And we could definitely be virtual law school buddies - though I think it will be a minimum of 2 years before I apply if then...
