The Rundown:
2 Harry Potter stories
1 Narnia story
1 Battlestar Galactica story
1 BSG/Firefly crossover
for a total of 5 stories in 4 fandoms and 10,701 words.
My Favorite Story of This Year (my own): This is tough but I'm going to go with 'Burn My Sins Away'. It was angsty and cathartic and contained some of the best writing I've ever accomplished. It was also, before I finished 'All Stories End', the longest thing I'd ever written.
My Best Story This Year: I'm gonna go with 'All Stories End'. It's only kind of a cheat because all of the best stuff was actually written in 2006, even if the story wasn't technically completed until 2007. I took what I'd learned writing 'Burn My Sins Away' and improved on it. 'Once and Again' is a very close runner-up, I astounded even myself by how much I was able to say in so few words.
Story Most Unappreciated By The Universe, in my opinion: I've gotta go with 'One Artist To Another', my BSG/FF crossover. It was a challenge fic and it still bugs me that the person I wrote it for didn't even comment on it which is just uncool, in my opinion.
Most Fun Story: This goes to 'One Artist to Another', again. I've never had more fun then the hours I spent gamboling around Ellen Tigh's head, seeing the universe through her eyes. She's a great character. Plus there was sex in a bathroom and Saffron marrying Gaeta and a confused Gaius Baltar. What more could a girl ask for?
Sexiest Story: Unfortunately, I don't write sexy well at all (I always worry that it'll end up sounding like a bad romance novel), so I don't even try. The story with the most actual sex would have to be 'All Stories End'. It's not happy sex but the first line is, "Ron and Hermione fucked for the first time the night of Harry's funeral." so I think it wins.
Story With the Single Sexiest Moment: Like I said, I fail at porn.
Hardest Story To Write: I sweated buckets over 'All Stories End'. The last section was just like performing my own dental surgery. Beneficial, but painful.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story: 'Burn My Sins Away'. Like I said in another post, what started off as an idea to get Ron and Xander to meet in a bar turned into something a whole lot more personal then I thought it would be. My own brain surprises me sometimes.
Most "OMG HEY *I* WROTE THAT! Fanon-Turned-Canon Moment: 'Every Precious Seed' which is told through the POV of an OC who's a priestess of Demeter and how she views the settlement of New Caprica. A couple of things have been jossed but the tone and emotions are still exactly how I view that lost year.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? More. I'm still impressed that I churned out just over 10,000 words. For me, that's a frigging miracle.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2006? All Supernatural, all the time. I have story ideas up the ying yang, including an XF crossover, a Forest Epic of Doom set in season one, a case-fic at a law school and an angsty one shot set during the Stanford years. People, I've never been this inspired by a fandom.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them? I didn't really take any risks. Whatever I may have written is nothing when compared to the crack that my head spews daily.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? See above. Now that the first term of law school is under my belt and I've decreased the schedule just a titch I want to devote more time to fic-writing during the semester. Use it or lose it, as they say.
Dangit, I have laundry to do and, ugh, cases to brief. Classes start again tomorrow. Oh joy, oh rapture. *blehs*
ETA: I've decided to be like Andy and spend most of the day in my bathrobe and slippers. *happy sigh*
