Wow, it's storming something fierce this morning. Cool.

Last night I kind of half woke up around 4AM. A couple seconds later my power went out so I had to get up and set the alarm on my cell phone. It wasn't storming but I'm sure all of the air conditioners and fans and things that were running in the city last night contributed to a little electrical burp.

I just have to get through today and then BAM! two weekends of camping. Have become increasingly nervous about monetary funds but will not let poverty stand in the way of having some good, old fashioned fun, gorramit. Swimming and lounging and driving and playing with the Pup. I can feel the stress draining out of me by just thinking about it. *big theraputic sigh*

Stepped into a local used bookstore the other day. I'd always meant to go in but ... well, anyway, it was great. The owner was an aging hippie with long, grey hair. The shop smelled of book dust, coffee and hashish. It was soothing to walk in there and escape from the rat race by browsing the shelves, if only for a little while.

It's going to be a great weekend, for all of us. Cheers!

Word Origin of the Day: Forbidden - The Gothic word farubiudan is the precedent here. This comes from the root word beodan, meaning "to offer." When combined, as in the Old English form Forbeodan, the meanin is shifted to indicate a "command to not offer." Beodan went on to infulence the modern English verb "bid." Faurbiudan also has links to other Germanic words, including the modern German owrd verboten.

storming in Lansing? There's nothing here! I want storms! I know they're coming sometime today.

Wish I were going camping. Instead, I must endure family hell. Ugh. But Monday- Cedar Point!!! Woohoo! Wish me good weather!

Bleh... hate work. It's so dull.

If it's storming in Lansing then it should be storming in A2 any hour now. You could hold your breath until they got there, but you might pass out and that would probably be bad. ;-)

Have fun at Cedar Point! And you'll get to go camping soon, I just bet.

Here's to the weekend, eh? I still have to make it through tomorrow, but then I am on a plane, baby. No Evilcorps for two whole weeks. Of course, the first four days of my vacation promise to be really really really busy and hectic and I'm not sure how relaxing they'll be, but here's the key: They won't be here.

Hope you have the most fun camping weekend evar!!!

Won't be here is the entire point. And the only thing standing between our fragile mental coherence and complete insanity.

Yay! to vacation synchornocity! Life can sometimes be very good.

Used book stores are so dangerous!
I have two really good ones a block from my apartment and I can't let myself walk down that side of the street or I'd have no bank account left.

Have a blast camping!

They are! It's a good thing I never walk around with a lot of cash or else this one would have all of my money.

Promise to have fun and to return with lots of stories and pictures. ;-)

I want to run a used bookstore. I think it would be so nice to have all these well-loved old books in one place.

And I love your icon: it's so true!

It's amazing how many fangirls have that same dream. Of owning a bookstore and spending the rest of one's life among books and bibliophiles.

One day, when we're all old and grey and own about a million small furry pets between the lot of us, us fangirls should band together and open up our own bookstore. We'd have books and a little tea corner with homemade scones and sweet things and we'd sell all sorts of book related paraphenalia and different kinds of music. It would be wonderful.

I love book shops. I think I prefer the modern Waterstone and Ottaker style bookstores to the older ones. Last time I was in Burmingham I spent almost two hours just browsing around a bookstore. I'm surprised I didn't arrouse suspicion being a teenage loiterer.

I love the big bookstores. The first time I walked into one it was an overwhelming experience. I'm surprised that I was ever able to make myself leave.

But, there's something very comforting about the small, independent stores. They have a peaceful feeling that is very soothing. They always feel like a safe place.
