May. 31st, 2005 12:41 pmI fucking hate my job.
I came in this morning all a'glow becaue of the wonderful fangirl weekend that was had. There was talking and laughing and staying up till 4:30 in the morning and finding out my second cousin once removed is an actual paratrooper and breakfast at Denny's and all sorts of good things. We basked in the glow of Elijah Wood's eyes and were happy.
But then I came to work. There's a bit to do, not surprising after a holiday weekend. However I am instantly annoyed by petty little things that if they had let me do them last week they would've been done right and not annoyed me. Then the printer jams and I start swearing. Then my boss has a talk with me. It was full of a lot of political mumbo-jumbo but pretty much boiled down to the fact that they were consolidating offices and the head honcho from the other office wanted to keep her administrative person and that there was talk that my hours might be cut.
Frankly, I don't need this bullshit. I don't need or want to be in this kind of a small business poltical garbage situation. I'm grateful to my boss for the head's up because, that's it, I'm looking for another job. I was staying in this one because my next year is kind of up in the air and I'm hoping for one thing but it might not pan out and at least this job pays the bills, albeit poorly. I already told my boss that if they cut my hours I'm quitting so that's that. I needed a higher salary anyway.
Thank goodness for the Fangirl Weekend. It really was a great time.
ETA: My good news of the day is that I'm going to give blood tonight and will be receiving a gallon pin. I've donated a gallon of blood! That is so cool. ;-)

Date: 2005-06-01 03:42 am (UTC)Will let you know if I hear of anything. If all else fails, there's always the daybed! We'll all quit our jobs and just crash a Fangirl HQ 24/7.

Date: 2005-06-01 12:48 pm (UTC)Thanks for the open ear. In a perfect existence we'd all already be living at Fangirl HQ 24/7 and in some dimension you and Oselle and Hiyacynth are famous writers and we each have a paratrooper/Zeke of our very own.
