Watched House last night, which was good but it suffered, poor baby, by the West Wing viewage I indulged in right before. Oh.My.Gosh. The final three episodes of season two are absolutely astounding. Easily the best television I've ever seen. It was extraordinary. I am in awe of what Aaron Sorkin and the cast (particularly Martin Sheen, Stockard Channing and John Spencer) were able to produce. Amazing.

In other television news, CBS has announced their fall line-up. numb3rs has been renewed which means it is more likely to cross the Pond at some future point. There's not a whole lot that I'm interested in, but there is some interesting casting: Threshold (Fridays at 9) will co star Brent Spiner, Close to Home (Tuesdays at 10) co stars Christian Kane of Angel: The Series fame, How I Met Your Mother (Mondays at 8:30) co stars both Jason Segel (Freaks & Geeks) and Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Out of Practice (Mondays at 9:30) co stars Christopher Gorham (Jake 2.0), Stockard Channing and Henry Winkler, and, finally, The Unit (a midseason replacement) stars Dennis Haysbert, Robert Patrick, Scott Foley and Amy Acker (Angel:The Series). I think CBS wins the prize for most familiar actors working on their new tv shows. There's somebody there for everyone.

ETA: For a better idea of what was picked up, cancelled or renewed over at CBS go over here.

I really want some lunch. Hmmm, what should I eat? A sandwich? What about Mexican? No, not really in the mood. Not chinese, I hear that the buffets in the area are staffed by indentured servants/slaves. Decisions, decisions ...

You know what I've always wondered? Why Angel: The Series? Why not just Angel? Was there a big fannish movie called Angel that I completely missed and people are trying to avoid confusion? Or is it that when you're typing it's easier to type "AtS" than the extra two characters needed to type "Angel"? Does it balance better with BtVS?

Explain, please.

Why did this message take so long to appear? Livejournal is playing tricks again, methinks.

On the Angel issue, frankly, I have no idea. I saw fandom people doing it so I picked it up too. You're right, though, the show is called Angel full stop with no 'the series' attached. It probably had something to do with differentiating between the main character and the show, as you can be talking about AtS without mentioning Angel the character at all.

That is, however, only my fanwanky opinion.

Oh, no, for once LJ was not to blame. I posted my comment, realized I'd left out an end italics, copied, deleted, pasted, fixed, copied, and then my server punked out and wouldn't post. So I tried again. Still no. Then the evil professor of doom called and talked to me for an hour and a half and made me do math and stuff and then I had to go talk to my boss and four other people and then I came back to my computer and saw that I never actually posted it again. Hence the delay.

I accept your fanwanky explanation and appreciate your putting it forth.

He made you do math and stuff?! Bastard.

You and Kermie make me giggle. And the ability to fanwank is one of the greatest skills known to man or woman. It is the ability to make sense out of senselessness.

Hurray. This looks like a series I would really enjoy. Intelligent crime solving whodunnit :-)

I keep on thinking I should watch that show and then I don't. I swear my brain is made of Swiss cheese. Here's hoping that it either comes out on region-free dvds or makes its way across the Atlantic sometime soon.
