Apr. 12th, 2005 01:32 pmMaking icons is hard, yo. Mostly because I have little inspiration and crappy photo-manip programs. le sigh.
So, in an effort to entertain myself, here is a meme. We've all seen the 'What is my favorite character?' meme and I thought about doing that one but then realized that I have a very difficult time limiting myself to just one character. I'm just not obsessive enough to make a very good fangirl. Hence, I will be doing the 'What character do I identify with the most?' meme. I'm sure none of these answers will surprise anyone at all.
10, or so, fandoms. In no particular order.
1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Xander Harris, mostly. Actually, I see myself as some sort of unholy combination of Xander and Giles, mostly Xander with his humor and his loyalty and his stubborness but with Giles's book smarts and love of knowledge.
2. The X-Files: Dana Scully. Agent Scully was, and still is in many ways, my tv role model. She was strong and sensitive and the voice of reason in a crazy world. As the series went on she was portrayed more and more as an open-minded skeptic with a strong streak of religious faith, something which I closely identify.
3. Lost: Hurley, always and forever. He's the affable guy who gets along with pretty much everyone and understands people's motivations better then most. He understands the importance of keeping up morale and being diplomatic and quietly goes about doing what needs to be done. The great thing is that he doesn't even realize what it is he's doing.
4. The West Wing: Charlie Young. If I were suddenly thrown into such a chaotic environment I would react in exactly the same way, stand back, do my job, not say a lot and survey the terrain. In the first season Charlie is unsure of himself, insecure in his own intelligence and happy to let everyone else talk while he quietly gets the lay of the land. That is so me in new situations that it's not even funny.
5. Chronicles of Narnia: Edmund. This isn't a perfect match as I would have never sold out my siblings for any amount of Turkish Delight but that's neither here nor there. Edmund learns from his mistakes and matures and gains an understanding of human nature that most of the other characters don't have. He becomes the diplomat of the family as can especially be seen in Prince Caspian when he attempts to negotiate understanding between Lucy on one side and Susan on the other.
6. Harry Potter: Ron Weasley. Is anyone really surprised by this? I think I'm supposed to identify with Hermione but she's so overwhelmingly ambitious and good at everything and I fall far short of that goal. Like Ron I'm smart but kinda lazy and a little insecure. I am the consummate sidekick, it's a good role to have.
7. Lord of the Rings: Merry Brandybuck. This one is difficult if only because I have spent so much of my life focusing on Sam Gamgee. The thing is that Sam and I don't have a whole lot in common but Merry and I do, in spades. He's bright and quick and good with people and a hobbit to every inch of hair on his feet even though he's not terminally hobbit-like. He's a scholar who doesn't get too caught up in the library and still sees and appreciates the world outside.
8. Band of Brothers: People say that I am Lipton and I am not apt to disagree with them.
That's it, I've fried my brain and can't think of any other fandoms. If I have criminally neglected any please do let me know.

Date: 2005-04-12 06:45 pm (UTC)Veronica Mars: Probably Wallace. I think. I'm kind of behind in my VM viewage so I can't make any judgements with complete certainty.
Angel: Gunn. He's a guy who is primarily motivated by family. He got into the vampire fighting gig to keep the people he cared about safe, he hooked up with Angel for the same reasons. He's caring and strong and understands people. Plus, once he got the upgrade he knew lots and lots of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Farscape: This is a conundrum. I'm gonna go with D'Argo for all the obvious reasons but with a little Pilot thrown in there too. Saving family comes first and the universe comes second.

Date: 2005-04-12 08:10 pm (UTC)What's so great about Lewis is that even though both Edmund and Eustace change so much the change never feels forced or fake. The plot and character are very deftly woven together.
