Totally sung my voice out at choir rehearsal last night. It was great. We're preparing some choruses from Handel's Messiah for an Easter concert (3PM on the 26th) and there is nothing more fun then singing 2+ hours of Handel's high notes. By the end I couldn't sing anything but the high notes and my speaking voice was shot. So.Much.Fun.

Course then I got home and as I was laying on my couch watching me some Deadwood the Mum calls and tries to carry on a conversation. Not only was I distracted by the tv but I couldn't hardly speak! Hee. Poor Mum, she had no one to talk to as the Da came home in the exact same vocal state (Handel is rough on the tenors as well).

Spent the bulk of the weekend cleaning and watching The X-Files or cleaning and watching Band of Brothers. Probably did more watching then cleaning as the bathtub has yet to be tackled. Tried to watch O, the latest Netflix rental, but knew where it was going and was so not in the mood for tragedy. My burgeoning love for Mekhi Phifer notwithstanding.

And so, in summation, Georg Frederic Handel was totally on crack.

I know, and he was teh cutest. It was just too angst-o-riffic for a weekend afternoon.

*sigh* The movie's just too good of a movie. I couldn't turn off my brain and just enjoy the pretty. It is so Zeke at one of his previous private schools when he was still trying to pretend to fit in with the other students even though he knew that he could never actually be one of them and so he goes about destroying himself and everyone around him. *pets Zeke*

He so totally was! I mean, come on, he wrote Messiah in something like a week. If drugs were not in some way involved then I don't know how he did it.

Don't worry, for some reason I don't tend to talk about my singing that much. Probably because I don't do nearly as much of it as I would like. Though back in high school ...

I's a soprano, and a pretty decent one, if I do say so myself;-).

I dated an alto in high school, who did state competitions and the like, so I know much more about it than someone who uses singing out loud as a threat ever should. =)

Dude, I'm sorry. The craziness of high school choir competitions is bad enough when you're the one competing. Though, I always thought that life as an alto was rather less crazy then life as a soprano. I think hitting all those high notes kills brain cells, or something;-).

Yes, she did get a bit... strange at certain times. Putting it mildly. She was also not happy when I was all, "Well, honestly, I can't tell the difference between one good singer and another. I don't know if you were really better than that other girl or not." That one took a lot of verbal back-tracking to get past. =)

Oy, sorry, didn't mean to lead you on. We're not the whole Messiah. My dear stake choir doesn't get the chance to practice nearly enough to put the whole thing on. We're fast studies but not quite that fast;-).

I would love to sing the whole Messiah, though. With a full orchestra and everything. Some day ... *dreamy sigh*
