So, yesterday, I drove by the bank after work to pick up some quarters for laundry and re-order my cheques. It was freakishly cold so I parked out in front on the street. I suppose that as I was pulling away from the curb I was in a bit of a hurry, the street I was on is generally busy at that time of day and there was a nice-sized break in traffic as cars down the street waited for a light to change. Whatever the reason, I was puling out when I ran right into the side of a car that I hadn't even seen.

Poor kid didn't even know what hit him. He'd only had his license for a couple of weeks so here I am, the adult, never been in an accident but in charge of the situation. Blah, blah, blah, long story short, the front right side of my car is banged up, it drives but not too well. I'm grateful that no one was hurt and all that but damn I don't want to have to pay the freaking insurance deductible. And here I was just about to get out of debt, too.

After dealing with all of that and its attendent rigamarole (which included both calling the insurance company and dealing with my mother) I finally made it back to my apartment. I mainlined on The West Wing, did my laundry, and fell asleep on the couch.

However, I opened up my email this morning and found a delightful new icon from hiyacynth. Isn't it lovely? Not only is it thematically appropriate but it has rumpled!Nix. Aaaaawww, Nix. *hugs hiyacynth mercilessly while taking care not to squeeze her shoulder too hard*

But Monday!Nixon icon! I'm so glad you like it, and that it was so appropriately timed! I hope it looks better on your screen than on my work one. At home it's all sharp and crisp.

Yeah. After your wound and my accident I'm beginning to think that the aliens really are out to get us all. Maybe it's some funky kind of psychic manipulation because we see how everything fits together and we could stop their dastardly plans to ... ummmm, control humanity through the media?

Hee. The man in the icon is a character from the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. The character's name is Capt. Lewis Nixon and the actor is Ron Livingston, who has also been in movies such as Office Space (which the quote is from), Adaptation and The Cooler.

I'd explain more, but it gets kind of in depth after that and I might be prone to go off on some fangirl corollary and it just wouldn't be pretty;-).

Ooooh! Sorry about your accident - thank God no one was hurt though. I don't drive yet - I started but was put off by crashing into a tree. That kind of thing can really put a damper on the whole thing. Lol. There were extenuating circumstances, such as the wheels were locked and I stalled and rolled about 2 foot down a hill and into a tree. Not my fault.

But man! Your icon! Go Cynthia! Just the words 'rumpled' and 'Nix' get me all a-fluster. Mmm... Nix.
Hope you had a better day today, but equally Nix-centric. Hmm. 'Nixcentric'. I think I invented a new word.

Hee. Right after I started driving (and this was quite a few years ago) I drove into a ditch in a similar situation. Not quite as traumatic as driving into a tree would have been but to this day my family will not let me live it down.

The accident might just have trumped the ditch experience, however;-).

Thank you! It is a really huge blessing that no one was hurt. If I was going to be in an accident this is definitely the type I would prefer to be in (even though 'no accident' is preferred above all else;-).

Hee. I'm glad you like the icon. I get so few of them that a new one is always a treat. Plus, Ron Livingston is quite a favorite of mine.

Nope, never! You know me, if I can't run full tilt into anything then I'm not happy. If I can't be psychotically obsessed with something then it's not worth thinking about and if I have to get into an accident I'll make damn sure that the car needs to really be repaired.
