I am a pizza thief. I was so hungry this morning that I went and ate a slice of pizza that didn't belong to me. Hey! It was in the communal fridge, which, by its very definition, is communal. For the sake of posterity I must remember to go to the grocery store or else whole legions of pizza thieves will arise to denude the world of delicious italian-american food.

Have been watching the Return of the King:Extended Edition for two evenings straight. It is more wonderful then I ever imagined. There are so many good things that have been in, there are so many wonderful little moments that I am overjoyed to see. And, oh man, the appendices. I've only started to scratch the surface of all of that wonderful information and I am already drowning in Middle-earth goodness.

Strangely enough, I'm also a little melancholy. With this release there is no more Middle-earth to anticipate. Sure Peter Jackson is making more movies and all of the actors are appearing all over the place but it's just not the same. This is it, no more anticipation, no more breathless excitement, just no more. Thankfully the movies will always be there in pristine format to be enjoyed again and again and again. And someday I hope to have the chance to go to New Zealand and experience the land that allowed such a dream to become reality.

No story has a definitive ending. They live on not only in the people who lived them but also in the way lives have changed because of them. The great stories speak to us on fundamental levels and we are enriched because of them.
