My Thanksgiving Weekend
Nov. 29th, 2004 11:11 amAm convinced that I have gained 55 million pounds in the past four days but as that is the proper thing to do during the Thanksgiving holiday I'm not all that worried about it. The dinner was a true family affair with everybody doing something different. The Da made the stuffing and cooked the turkey, the Mum baked the pecan and pumpkin pies as well as doing up the yams and making the grazy and I baked the apple pie, did up the mashed potatoes and cooked the squash. The Big Lug didn't do much of anything save lay around and watch TV, though he did shovel half of the sidewalk.
I think I watched more movies then humanly possible this weekend. I blame HBO and TNT for the majority of my holiday viewing, which included such movies as Love,Actually, Sliding Doors, Dreamcatcher, Mulan and bits and pieces of Fools Rush In. I cannot, however, blame my viewing of disc 3 of Band of Brothers on anyone but myself.
I made the strangest noises as I watched Dreamcatcher late Saturday night. I think I've fallen terminally in love with Damien Lewis. I don't believe there's a cure for this particular disease nor am I inclined to discover one.
Now I'm back at work after sleeping and slacking the entire weekend. *shrug* At least I'm getting paid.
ETA: I can't believe I forgot to mention this. I also saw National Treasure over the weekend with the Da. The movie was better then expected and I spent the entire time waiting for Nic Cage to jump Sean Bean. Maybe I was just transferring (as I would dearly love to jump Mr. Bean) but I perceived some serious heat between those two characters. May I just say that it is most disturbing to be sitting by one's father having those sorts of thoughts.

Thank goodness. I'm so weary of being blamed for this one!
Do not struggle against the Damo love. There's very little point. Plus, it's a good way to go.

Date: 2004-11-29 09:34 am (UTC)Sausage-y is a good way to describe it, indeed, the perfect way.
And, when my heart finally gives out because of the overwhelming power of teh love I intend to go to that Nirvana which will surround me with red-headed men.

Date: 2004-11-29 10:47 am (UTC)I watched Dreamcatcher recently and I must say, apart from Thomas Jane and Morgan Freeman, I can't remember the names of the other actors, but they were all delicious in their own right, even Mr Gray lol and I don't go for redheads. I adored the movie though, right up my alley.

Date: 2004-11-29 11:19 am (UTC)There's just something entrancing about Dreamcatcher. I saw it for the first time a couple years ago and really enjoyed it even then, before I was aware of all of the other reasons why I should love it. I just finished reading the book and it was enjoyable as well, though the ending is very, very different.
Think of it as insulation...
Date: 2004-11-29 08:23 pm (UTC)My sister is such a pumpkin pie pig! You wouldn't believe it! She ate 3/4 of the second pumpkin pie my mom made for Thanksgiving, so my brother complained when he (nor I for that matter) got any of it on Sunday. So Mom made two more, one for us, and one to go back to State with Christa. Damned if she didn't eat a good chunk out of ours this time too! And don't even ask about the green bean casserole. Gone, and we all know who ate that! One of these days, it's going to catch up to her...
Yup, saw National Treasure a week or so ago. Pretty good really... and saw Finding Neverland this past weekend. Was actually thinking to come up and visit you and convince you to see it with me, but alas, stupid school project needed to be done. Bleh. And of course, this weekend, when I don't have any projects to work on or exams to study for, I have to be home with my dad. Ugh... I hope I do get to see you at SOME point during holiday break! Maybe for an ROTK:EE get together? With Dan too? We'll see... We must christen your new place with nerdy blessings!!!

Date: 2004-12-01 06:17 am (UTC)I wish you had been able to come down and drag me out to see Finding Neverland, I so want to see that movie! Plus, it would've been really fun to have you come down, even though my apartment is still full of piles and piles of books looking for a bookshelf-like home. I even have a table now!
And a nerd christening, huh? That idea has some merit ...
