Was That Real?

I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamt that I went to Chicago on Saturday with baylorsr and Her Sister. I also dreamt that there we met hiyacynth and ramalama and the_headhunter and we all went to the symphony and heard the music from The Lord of the Rings Symphony and then we all played Barbie's World of Middle-earth Smut. I had many flings with Boromir, stole Legolas's conditioner and ended with Bilbo as my sugar daddy. I may not have ended up as Queen of Gondor like ramalama or Queen of Faramir like the_headhunter or the Dark Lady like a Certain Sister but at least I didn't end up in the Lockholes like baylorsr.

I also dreamt that there was a three hour lunch on Sunday wherein us fangirls talked about everything from 11 year-old sex to George Lucas's hack-like isanity to the many wanks of internet fandom. I'm also positive that I remember dreaming that I ended up with a box full of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and other assorted Sean Patrick Flannery movies.

You know, that was a really great dream and it was so vivid that I could swear that it actually happened. Weird, that.

OMG!! I had that same dream! Except mine had this nightmare interlude where I spent intermission locked in the stairwell, and then that I lost the car! But the rest was the same!

OMG!! SERIOUSLY!! I can't believe it! It's like we're all connected by some kind of Tolkien collective unconscious or maybe the hobbits really are taking over our brains!

And what a horrible nightmare interlude! That kind of horror is just too traumatizing to take place in real life.

I would seriously enjoy some Young Indy on DVD but good luck. First of all, I don't think there's a wide enough audience---the show itself wasn't even that big of a hit when it was on the air---and second of all, George Lucas is a selfish bastard who has proven, and even said time and time again that the audience means absolutely nothing to him. Why people even keep going to see those criminally boring Star Wars movies is beyond me, except maybe for the whole train-wreck appeal.

Only proving, once again, that it is the fangirls who truly understand what the truly great tv shows/movies/actors are. It's a shame that the rest of the world just doesn't know what they're missing.

The thing about Young Indiana Jones though, is that I always wanted them to be BETTER than they were. They had so much going for them---a great idea, an obviously generous budget, gorgeous location shoots and a really appealing star---but each episode seemed to fall short of what it might have been. I think part of this is that the shows really were aimed more at children and pre-teens, so they couldn't be too complex, but I think the bigger problem was George Lucas' limitless talent for screwing up. I'm sorry, but Star Wars was the one thing he seemed to do right. Almost everything else he's put his stamp on is a disappointment, hell, even Empire Strikes Back was the best of the Star Wars movies, because it was the only one he didn't direct.

And this is why I want to see them again so much. At the time that they first broadcast I was a part of the target audience so I'm interested to see how they stack up now that I have a few more years, I understand what it takes to enjoy a fully developed story and I've studied a bit of history. I'm intrigued and excited.

And I completely agree with what you've said about Georgie Porgie. That man is a complete menace. I only wish that the first prequel hadn't made so much money and validated his warped view on what makes a good story.

Though, I have to say, if all of the seasons of that vampire show Forever Knight can come out on dvd then Young Indy sure as hell should.

Since hiyacynth already pointed the way to the explanation of her game, I won't say any more on that front. It may just be the best board game I've ever played.

The Howard Shore concert was amazing. I can't even begin to describe the power and beauty of the music or how strongly it affected me. Hearing it in a symphony hall played live rather then from my stereo speakers allowed me to hear the depth of the music and also appreciate its complexity. I was so proud of the children in the choir who were able to sing such a hard work and sing it so well.
