Retail/food service is not for the faint of heart. Though I'm sure ya'll already knew that.

But that's not what this post is about. Lately I've been running through the "to read" pile and am reaching a point where I don't have very much left to entertain myself when I'm not on the computer. So, a request.

Rec me a favorite writer and the one book of hir's that you think everyone must read. Published, non-published, fan, it doesn't matter; all I'm looking for is a good story well-told.

I'm easy for the written word, my friends, so tell me what to read. =D

Elizabeth Moon's "Deed of Paksennarion". And most of her others, although she's not always as good as that.

Also, completely different, I think the author is Baumgartner, look for "The School of Essential Ingredients."

I really enjoyed The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley, and Farm City by Novella Carpenter. And if you've never read Chocolat by Joanne Harris, go out and get it. It's one of my all-time favorites, hands down.

I'm done with The Road, if you want it next. I know you said 'no' but since it's the only thing I've read in forever. Come down, raid my bookcase, seriously. Or you could borrow some comic books, cuz I totes trust you, dude.
