Some crazy person who looks an awful lot like me went and signed up for spn_j2_bigbang this year. It will either be entirely awesome or entirely ... ummm, not. But trato hecho. If I have a complete break with reality between now and May 1 I guess ya'll will know why. ;-)

A wonderful cousin of baylorsr bought her an incredible book called Deathtroopers for Christmas and baylorsr has kindly let me borrow it. HOMG you guys, it's about zombie stormtrooper!!!! It is one of the most incredible things I have ever read! And, I shit you not, the main characters are teenaged Sam&Dean. I mean, no, they didn't use those names but, holy crap, they're so Sam&Dean it's like I'm reading fanfiction. Except someone got paid to write it!

Zombie Stormtroopers. You cannot get much better than that.

Speaking of awesome books, I finally broke down and bought The Wolf House books 1&2 by Mary Borsellino. It took me a little while to actually buy them because I am allergic to e-books, but OMG am I so glad I did. They are actualfax fantastic, not just in a zombie stormtrooper sort of way. They're smart and engaging, the story picks you up and drags you along until you don't know which way is up or down anymore and you don't even care. They're so awesome that I even loved the vampire parts, and you all know how over vampires I am. I cannot recommend them highly enough. And I can't wait till the next books in the series are released.

The thing that gets me the most about these books, beyond the fabulous characters who are so real, diverse, and interesting that I kind of wish I was friends with all of them, is the use of vampirism and vampires. Usually vampires have some deep metaphorical meaning, you know, high school is hell, sex drugs rock&roll, etc, etc. But in The Wolf House vampires just are. They're just one more shitty thing that can happen in your life that you have to learn to deal with. And there is no right or wrong way to deal, you just have to do what you think is best and hope that your friends and family will still be there with you on the other side. And I love that. Because life sucks, whether you're a vampire or not.

Seriously, you should read them. You'll be happy you did.

Apparently, I have to write an entire, really long story before May 1. I guess I should start working on that.

Oh, no, seriously, thank you for such terrifically awesome books. I feels this deep need to fangirl all over you, but I'd just end up being all OMG I LOVE [THIS PART] SO MUCH and repeating both of the books back at you.

So, you know, just know that I think that you and your characters are pretty keen. And I just can't get enough. In fact, I think I'll go read some of it again right now. =D
