liptonrm_backupThings that I hate: opening up the bread bag to discover black mold all over the very tasty loaf that I hadn't even eaten half of. I cannot express in words my utter and complete loathing for mold and pretty much every other kind of fungi. It's not a plant, it's not an animal, it's just WRONG and I don't like it even a little. The only good thing that can be said about mushrooms is that some of them are tasty, though other kinds will kill you. Stupid fungi, go back to your home planet and leave us earthlings in peace.

baylorsr took pity on me and offered to chauffer a very tired me down to FGC on Thursday night and back up to my place Friday morning. I liked it very much even if I don't have much to say. CALLED IT! Of course, my idea was to have Sam be possessed by Lucifer and then Dean would be possessed by Michael and Michael-in-Dean would kill Bobby and it would be AWESOME and HORRIBLE. I will settle for Dean being Michael's Sword 'cause that's funny.
I was very excited to see Meg and can't wait to see more of her, preferably with the same actress because she was excellent. I was very glad that Bobby didn't kill himself though I kind of want to shake Kripke because Pamela Barnes dies unnecessarily from a gut wound but Bobby Singer lives? WTF dude? Not cool, seriously not cool. Though I didn't want Bobby to die, not really. Apparently I'm only okay with killing Bobby if I do it (and I actually have real reasons for why killing Bobby in canon would be bad but killing him in SPretendN fanon would be okay but I won't belabor the point here since onlybaylorsr and I care about all of that;-).
And, seriously Sammy, what were you thinking? Actually, I know exactly what you were thinking, you poor fucked up kid. You were deceived and manipulated and I forgive you for loosing Lucifer on the world, even if I do think you should feel the need to atone for your actions.
The thing is that Sam always knew he was acting badly. He knew drinking demon blood was not kosher (both metaphorically and literally) and he did it anyway. He knew draining Cindy dry was wrong and yet he kept on going. He justified his actions to himself and everyone else but he's self-aware enough to understand what he was doing and why he was doing it and he refused to examine himself and his motives closely enough. So, yeah, he bears culpability for his actions, as righteously-intended as they were.
What I find interesting about the final scene was Dean's use of the word 'trust.' I've seen it suggested that Dean never trusted Sam because last season he reverted to ordering Sam around rather than explaining to Sam why he found Sam's actions so worrisome and I don't think that's what Dean meant when he said that he always trusted Sam. Dean always trusted Sam to do the right thing, he's always trusted Sam's moral compass more than his own because Sam has always been willing to ask the hard questions and criticize the easy road. Dean trusted that Sam's inherent goodness would see them both through. And now he realizes that Sam is just as flawed as the rest of us are.
Actually, I think Dean's ending speech was the most emotionally mature Dean's ever been. For once he told Sam exactly what was wrong and didn't keep it all to himself. This is actually progress, for both of them. It sucks but, then, most emotional relationships do at one point or another. Frankly, the end of their freakish codependence would be a very good thing. They both need to live their own lives for their own reasons. Really, they do.
And BTW, as much as I appreciate both Misha Collins and Castiel I was kind of pissed to see him third billed. If 'Also Starring' was good enough for William B. Davis and Mitch Pileggi then it's more than adequate for Misha fucking Collins.
Also, [Spoilers for 5x02 preview] they'd better not kill Jo, Rufus, or Ellen. I, frankly, don't know what I'd do if they killed any of those characters. I'm really, really, really fucking nervous. I love you, Show but don't let me down, not this time.

In closing: I found last night's Mad Men to be the most disturbing bit of television I've seen in a long while. I'm so happy to be living in the 21st century because GAH. Just, gah.
