I feel like I'm doing about ten million things at once and I'm supposedly on break. WTF?!!

Am currently trying to pack up my apartment as I have to be out of here by the 10th. For some reason I decided that I should give 30 days notice of departure back at the beginning of August and, what with finals and everything, have only had the past week, or so, to both look for a new place and start packing. If everything works out I should have a fantastic new apartment (still waiting to hear back from them re: credit check, etc). So, fingers crossed.

I'm also pushing up against the deadline of another crazy project that [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr roped me into. And by "roped" I mean I'm the idiot who said 'OMG THAT'S AWESOME WE HAVE TO DO THAT!' Why do I always do these things to myself? *long suffering, overdramatic sigh*

And, yes, I know what starts up again on 9/10, I'm well aware of that fact, now. It seems I can't seem to remember the important things in life when I'm in high dudgeon over my rights. Hey, I challenge any of you to keep things completely in perspective when you come home to find a demand for an entirely bogus $800+ taped to your door. But it is what it is and if I get to see Show's premiere or not is nearly entirely up to fate at this point. What will be will be.

I'm trying a new zen approach. I'm sure it won't last very long, it never does. ;-)

Finally, if ya'll could spare a couple good thoughts/karma/prayers and send them towards my High School BFF and her husband I'd gladly appreciate it. They've had some hard knocks health-wise in the past couple of weeks and could use all the good mojo they can get.

In closing: I've read two books about dragons written by authors with fannish ties: Victory of Eagles by Naomi Novik and Havemercy by Jaida Jones and Dani Bennett. The first one was terrific, a great ripping yarn that I pretty much couldn't put down till I'd finished it. The second was, well, not quite as entertaining. It was fine but after reading it all I could think was 'Not enough dragons, too many mans.' And, frankly, 'not enough ladies, too many mans' is also a criticism I would lay at its door. The concept was excellent but it focused so closely ont he inner lives of its four male protagonists that it missed out on a lot of really great opportunities. And, as you all know, things that I almost love but can't quite have a tendency to eat at me a whole lot more than things I don't like at all.

Okay, off to be busy. Plz to remember to continue rocking the casbah, o f'list.
