I'm so done with law school, which may be the cause of all of my grrring all over ya'll. I just do not care anymore. grr grr, blah blah, listen to me whine. The world's tiniest violin is playing as we speak.

I am also hungry. I know! Let's talk about food! I love food, it's so yummy and wonderful. Right at this very moment I'm really craving backlava. mmmmm flaky layers of pastry sweetened with honey and packed full of pistachio nuts. *swallows* Really, there's nothing like it. Any assortment of Middle Eastern pastries would also be more than satisfactory. They're not too sweet but not overly savory. There's this consistency to the pastry that's crumble but not and the fillings ... *licks lips* I feel like Homer Simpson when he's drooling over rich, creamery butter.

Now it's your turn. Tell me what you love about food or what foods are really doing it for you right now. Or tell me what your favorite characters are eating. Really, tell me anything about food, context and capacity doesn't matter. Let's just celebrate one of those ubiquitous things that make life worth living.

What are you eating?

I'm currently eating left over pasta dish with ham, creamy cheese sauce and pesto. Baked to perfection with crispy bread crumb crust.

Any kind of school will get you down! That's what it's meant to do, it prepares you for the real world where your spirit will be broken multiple times to earn money. =D Keep it up and one day it will be over, thats what gets me through my degree -_-

mmmmm creamy pasta with a crispy crust ... That sounds delicious.

And, yeah, school is a downer for pretty much everyone. Keep your head up, too! It'll all be worth it, probably. =D

Mm, baklava. So yummy, but really, for me, almost too messy to bother with. Now a nice wide slice of pie, overflowing with fresh berries (or cherries, or apples, or pumpkin or well, really anything) will get me drooling.

Tonight, though, I'm having a steak salad and a slice of oreo cheesecake (if the delivery guy ever shows up - omg I'm so hungry!).

*stares at front door in starved expectation*

OMG pie! I love pie. It is, quite possibly, the greatest dessert ever created. Heck, it's quite possibly the greatest food ever created! So tasty and delicious.

Though I wouldn't turn my nose up at steak salad and some oreo cheesecake. Food is so wonderful.

Pavlova. I just made my first one last week. I made a blueberry sauce with basil in it. The meringue was slightly underdone, but that sauce? It made the whole damn thing.

Fuck work. Fuck law school. More pavlova.

I have had lamb four times in the past week. Three times at the restaurant in the hotel where Writercon was (twice in an amazing salad, and once in a sandwich), and today in a risotto at a place near my job.

This may account for something like 1/3 of my lifetime consumption of lamb. (My parents were leery of it, both having grown up poor and hating mutton.)

So much great food over the course of 5 days.

You know, that's funny because my parents were also leery of lamb, though neither of them grew up particularly poor. Overcooked chicken was fine but any kind of lamb was definitely verboten.

I think it had something to do with mint jelly.

But, yes, OMG LAMB. Everything you've described sounds delicious. Food is such a wonderful thing.

*nods* Yes, sometimes relationships must be re-evaluated, even those as deep as important as the one we have with food.

And I am so totally there with you on all of the wonderful in-season berries. I've been eating so many cherries lately that I'm sure I'm going to wake up one any morning now.

OMG CHIK-FIL-A OMG!!!! I have only ever eaten there once in Virginia and it was the BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH EVER. And then I came back up to Michigan and there is no Chik-fil-a to be found. *foodlusts all over your CFA goodness*
