I woke up from a nap with the weirdest desire to write a SPN/The Wire crossover that involves time travel and SPN characters who only exist in mine and [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr's heads. I blame recently finishing Jo Graham's Black Ships and a promo for that USA show In Plain Sight for an episode guest starring Clarke Peters.

Relatedly, I have moved The Wire s.2 to the top of my Netflix queue. Screw my OCD system, I want to see what happens next.

Had a delightful weekend with fangirls where much Deadwood was watched and then spent yesterday coming back to reality, which always sucks. I came home not only to discover that the anti-abortion terrorists are still going strong but that the news media isn't willing to call a duck a duck for fear of, I don't know, offending the crazy people. Anyone who murders someone in cold blood with the express purpose of furthering his own agenda while terrorizing people into submission is a terrorist and should be labeled as such. And the anti-abortion groups who are waving their hands in the air and don't want to be painted as "extremists" are disingenuous at best and culpable at worst. When you are willing to engage in rhetoric that encourages terrorism you reap what you sow.

It's no wonder that there's a part of me that would very much like to retreat into Fangirl Nirvana and never come back to the real world. Because the Real World frequently sucks. And in Fangirl Nirvana we can make up crazy Viggo-style poetry, discover the strange beauty of the word 'cocksucker' and play Fangirl Jeopardy. Plus there are kittens, lots and lots of adorable kittens.

In sum: the world sucks except for when it doesn't and my subconscious is a very strange place. And now I have to get ready for my evening class.

I, as you know, come from an anti-abortion background, and though it's been some time since I've spoken with those old friends of mine from college, I'm pretty sure "going strong" is quite the opposite of what they're feeling. Rather, it's utter desperation and the feeling of being powerless. I.e. the victim mentality. Which is the MOST abused mentality/rationale in the world today and in America in particular. Everyone wants to claim the victim's crown when everyone, pretty much, has their own perpetrations to answer for.

Don't worry. This murder has created a wonderful martyr for the pro-abortion movement and will silence anti-abortion influence in the upcoming Sotomayor confirmation.
