So, ummm, that was a whole lot less cracky than I thought it would be. I mean, come on, with a name like 'Jump the Shark' I was expecting the primo Colombian crack. But I guess after 'The Monster at the End of this Book' there's only so much crack you can dole out. Cause, really, it would've been nigh impossible to dole out more than 'Monster.' That truly was a brain twirly episode.
But Cousin Oliver's diner! LOLOLOLOL Oh, Show, I do love you best.
Personally, I view the life that John had in Windom, Minnesota as John's own personal Sekrit Pretend World. Yeah, it was an asshole thing to do, but who doesn't want to have even a sliver of the life they wish could really be theirs? It's nice to know that even though John didn't break in Hell he still wasn't a perfect guy. He was just a guy, doing the best he could.
Man, I love how imperfect the characters on this show are. It makes me look like this: =D.
I just really enjoyed this episode. It hit all the right buttons and had a couple of great moments and there were a few times when I was genuinely nervous. It's nice that it's been acknowledged out loud how truly and completely Sam is John's son. Family really will get you in the end.
BTW, I totally have a theory about the season finale. It's based on a semi-spoiler that I've only heard second hand and I don't want to say it anyway, because if I say it it'll come true but if I don't say it it'll come true. But either way it makes me gleeful in a really horrible way.
And, dude, I totally missed the episode writer and director because I loved the opening scene on the beach so damn much! And the return of rock-paper-scissors!
A solid MOTW with great Winchester family stuff and the kind of characterization I want to sink my teeth into. It was a very satisfactory viewing experience.
And now we're nearly to the end. I can't wait.
Tangentially: You ever post something and then look at it a little bit later and wonder why in the world you hit the post button? Yeah, my new goal is to not be a horse's ass on the internet. Just thought I'd let ya'll know.
And OMG I just read the awesomest Who casting spoiler evar! It doesn't even matter who the actor plays, the fact that that person's in it alone makes me want to do a back flip. And I don't even know how! OMG!
