Apr. 6th, 2009 07:11 pmWell, looks like we got snow in April. That's just awesome Mother Nature, thanks a lot. < /sarcasm>
Actually, I find it endlessly amusing how weather is such an integral part of most conversations. People can spend long lengths of time talking and commiserating about it and they don't get bored. It's just funny that even in a modern world that we've worked so hard to shape in our image and to our convenience we're still so mystified and intrigued by the magical workings of the weather.
After all, chaos theory is only magic by any other name.
I can't believe I did it, I finally signed up for Facebook. *facepalms* I have resisted it for eons for a lot of little, petty reasons; one being that it bugs that heck out of me that everything is so damn secretive unless you let yourself be initiated into their little cabal. Yeah, yeah, I know, I wouldn't want anyone to surf around and find all of my personal information, but it's still annoying.
Anyway, I signed up purely for networking purposes. Not having a presence online under one's own name can look nearly as bad as having the wrong kind of presence online, or something to that effect. But from what I've seen of it I'll definitely continue spending my quality internet time around these parts. We're simply more interesting than they are.
BTW, thanks to the Great Computer Upheaval of 2009 I don't have any digital pictures of myself. So if anyone has one plz to send it my way. Even if I'm not going to spend oodles of time over there the least I can do is post a picture.
ION, I've seen two semi-chilling news articles in the past few days; one was about an AI that physicists are now using to cull raw data and reach conclusions for them, the other is about how neurobiologists have discovered a chemical that edits memories (both were in the NYT). OMG, you guys, the future is here. Next thing you know we'll be erasing bad relationships ala Eternal Sunshine and bowing down to our robotic overlords ala every cyborg movie ever made. OMG indeed.
I feel like I should have something more to say, but the sad truth is that I spent the vast majority of the past weekend in some kind of stupor. It was a strange, zombie kind of zen. Now all I have to do is pick the residual brains out of my teeth and I'll be good to proceed with my week. Stupid brains are way stringier than you'd think they'd be.

Date: 2009-04-06 11:59 pm (UTC)Also, Sister and I have determined that Tivo will be our Overlord, after the machines use 1990s video games like Klax and Mean Bean Machine to brainwash us. Have also determined that we are happy with this fate.
