Jan. 22nd, 2009 05:45 pmAnd, yet, even though people are jerks I'm constantly reminded that there is still good in the world, Mr. Frodo. Yes, even in the cyberworld.
Because, you know what? I've made some of the best friends I've ever had because of fandom. They enrich my lives every single day. Heck, I just got off the phone with
baylorsr because she just had to ask me why, if Manticore was so awesome, they didn't put any trackers in its super-soldiers? The question had been plaguing her for hours. She also told me that she's half-way through with Twilight and she thinks Edward should just go ahead and eat Bella.
We had a good laugh, it was fun. ;-) And that's only one example of all of the awesome things that have happened to me because of fandom and not inspite of it.
Like, for another example, there was the time that
hiyacynth came down to help me move into my current apartment and we mainlined season one of The O.C.. When the Baylor Sisters showed up we were bawling our eyes out at the season finale and they mocked us mercilessly. But they got theirs when they watched the season and were crying their eyes out when the season finale rolled around. They called
hiyacynth in tears and both begged her forgiveness and yelled at her for "making" them watch it.
It was a beautiful moment of vindication. =D
So, why don't you all tell me about one (or more) of your favorite fandom memories. It can be cyber or RL, funny or meaningful. Let's remind ourselves of why we're here in the first place and how spectacular it really is.

Date: 2009-01-23 01:14 am (UTC)The saga of FGC and The O.C. is high up on my list, as well as the weekend where we watched all of Season 4 and SOBBED like tiny little baby people all through the last episode.
And, if I could remember more of it, I'd have to say the first weekend of FGCv1, with the BoB marathon and the shots and the dislocated shoulder. Followed shortly by the weekend where you and I watched 32 hours of Doctor Who/David Tennanty goodness, and you left me with a cheat sheet and discs of most of Season 1 of some show called Supernatural. That one never took, though. :-)
Wow. Dang. Daytime cold meds + one beer = me, loopy.

Date: 2009-01-23 04:01 am (UTC)see? THIS is what i wish I were part of! I was sobbing like a titty baby over the Patrick Park montage all by my lonesome, whispering "all is a circle" and "pass it on" like a madman.

Date: 2009-01-26 08:17 pm (UTC)That's it, that's the center of it all, fandoms come and go but the sisterhood is eternal. And we're all the richer and stronger for it.
And go you with your raising the next generation into fangirl glory. You're so doing something right. ;-)

Date: 2009-01-26 08:20 pm (UTC)You just made me tear up because you reminded me of hobbits and LotR and how wonderful the halcyon years of the movie releases were.
And what an awesome fangirl experience you had. *beams happily*

Date: 2009-01-26 08:27 pm (UTC)How did we even make it through all of that David Tennanty goodness? I still can't wrap my head around the awesome of our stamina that weekend.
And, just, everything else. It's already been a great ride and I predict that it's only going to get better. (Are you listening, universe? I said BETTER!)
