Jan. 8th, 2009 04:02 pmHOMG! Noel Clarke's been nominated for a BAFTA! That is so buckets of awesome. Team Noel FTW!
Which suddenly makes me want to write Mickey Smith fic. Now there's a character who never gets nearly the kind of fic-love that he deserves. I'll have to let that idea stew for a bit. And while it's stewing I totally need to go hunt down some Mickey icons because the fact that I don't even have one of him is made of complete fail. But YAY Noel Clarke!
You know, it's really not surprising that I gained 50 lbs. right after the fibro made an appearance in my life, because there are some days when everything is awful and the only thing that makes me feel better is a giant helping of carbs, especially if said carbs include sugar and chocolate in a significant amount. And I totally refuse to feel guilty over indulging in those tasty, tasty carbs.
The Big Lug is such a conundrum. On the one hand, he's pretty much the only person in my direct circle with whom I can converse about weighty intellectual topics. Like, last night he called and we chatted about the books we're reading; he's reading Livy's Discourses and I'm reading a comparative history of the French and Russian Revolutions. It was a good conversation. But on the other hand he can be an absolute prick about politics and modern social/moral issues. I refuse to engage with him on those issues anymore because he's obnoxious and won't even concede that people have the right to their own opinions. So far I've been able to restrain myself from telling him he can take his white male privilege and shove it up his ass, but it's been a very near thing.
So, yeah, that's family for you. You might be willing to die for them but sometimes you're damn glad you don't have to live with them.
I'm in the process of putting the finishing touches on the crossover challenge. It should be up by the end of the day. Just a couple more hours and the crack will flow...

Date: 2009-01-08 09:33 pm (UTC)My thoughts exactly. I've been at home long enough now to realize that I want nothing more than to escape back to school, even if I am very close to my mom. Everyone else is driving me nuts.

Date: 2009-01-08 09:42 pm (UTC)I seem to have unsubbed from it/them, but there was (probably still is?) a Mickey icon and/or fic comm. I remember the fic one was something like "those left behind" and was dedicated to stories featuring Mickey and Jackie, i.e. those totally ditched by Rose :-) I have a few Mickey icons stashed away somewhere I could share, too. I didn't make them, but they were fun.
):-p to stupid fibro. I approve of you doing things that make you feel better, but it would be so nice if those things didn't come with a side dish of 50 pounds. :-(
*hugs you gently*
We still on tonight?

Date: 2009-01-08 10:30 pm (UTC)Oooo, yes please share some of the Mickey icons you have stashed away. That way I can be lazy and not go looking for more. Because my Mickey love may be strong but so is my laziness.
We're totally still on tonight. I'm totally looking forward to it.
*HUGS*
