*singsongs* I saw Bruce Springsteen yesterday and you didn't. nah nah nah nah naaah nah.

Well, maybe if you live in the greater Detroit-Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area you, too, saw Springsteen yesterday, but you know what I mean. Springsteen's out doing the whole Obama supporting concert thing and baylorsr, being the awesomely hooked-up person she is, got offered free tickets that got us ridiculously close to the stage. It was pretty awesome. It always feels nice to be surrounded by like-minded individuals. It's also kinda funny when the college stoners in front of you turn two campaign posters into a giant bong and start passing it around their little group and then their bong catches on fire. Good times. ;-)

I have to admit, I've never been a huge Springsteen fan (I know, I know, blasphemy) but I don't think I was ever introduced to his music in quite the appropriate way because now I want more. Lots more. He's kind of generally awesome, just in and of himself. It was a great event.

The two warm-up acts, Dick Siegel and Kitty Donahoe were also pretty great. I'm definitely going to have to dig into more of their catalogs as well. It is true that the one thing I didn't explore nearly enough when I lived in Ann Arbor was the local music scene. I really missed out on that one.

One of the funniest bits of the event was when they had local polticos up there in between the opening acts and the Boss. The crowd started to get a little restless and yelled "BRUCE" every now and again, but the politicos thought they were being booed. They eventually got the idea. And, for some reason, they brought John Dingell up to the stage. See, John Dingell is the longest sitting person in Congress, so he's somewhere around 203. On the one hand, he's a Michigan tradition, on the other hand, it was kinda crazy how it felt like grandpa had come over for a cup of tea and was telling us all about what was going on in the world today with us young whippersnappers. He was pretty adorable, if not as charismatic as I bet he was back in the good ol' days.

And all of this after a pretty awesome fangirl weekend where much SPN was watched and discussed. We also helped baylorsr make her Halloween costume and decorate FGC for the holiday. You should've seen the little neighbor kids and how they reacted to the graveyard in the front yard, zombie rising out of the ground and everything. There was this one little boy who was hiding behind his older sister while they were all gathered around, gawking, who, as they were walking away, ran up and touched the zombie's head and then ran away again really fast. I think FGC wins for Halloween this year.

Ugh, I have to go to Secured Transactions today. Why oh why can't I just spend all of my time surrounded by fangirls? I miss hiyacynth already. Stupid being an adult. *g*

ETA: Apparently, we were on CNN yesterday. Awesome. Though they missed the part where Bruce gave a great, impassioned speech about everything we have to do to reclaim America. And they also missed the bit where he lead us in a sing along of 'This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land.' I bet it's up on YouTube, I should go look for it.

SO awesome! I told Marc on Sunday that you were going, and he was like, "And you came home instead of staying up there? Are you crazy?" and then I realized I was totally crazy and should have called in sick and gone with you guys. Sigh. Oh well. See above, re: "stupid being an adult."
