Mar. 11th, 2009 03:19 pmWoke up this morning and discovered that sometime over the night my computer had lost its operating system. I'm not sure what that means but I do know that it portends Nothing Good.
This'll teach me to delay posting things. I had a RaceFail 09 reaction post nearly ready to go, too. For those of you just coming in on all of this, Ann Sommerville put together a pretty cogent summary of the events. Most of my thougts have probably already been said by people both wiser and more courageous than myself, but among the few points I wanted to make was on the fallacy of the colorblind theory. Not that the ideal of a colorblind society isn't a necessary goal for all of us, but that too many white people say that they're colorblind when really what they're doing is whitewashing the rest of the world to fit their lives and experiences. So instead of the good kind of blind that is a society that treats everyone equally instead we just have people who aren't willing to see the true realities of race and racism in the modern world. Which is bullshit and entitled to the nth degree.
Just take a good look at yourself and own your own shit. Don't continuously make people suffer through your ignorance of your own racial issues. There's enough racially motivated pain in the world, you don't need to add to it through your own stupidity.
I also plan to make a post comparing Watchmen to Serenity, and not in a positive way for either film.
And Show is coming back tomorrow, OMG.
I hope that everything will be resolved soon and I'll be able to burden you all with my opinions in the very near future. One can only hope. *crosses fingers*
