Jun. 27th, 2006 02:14 pmOnce upon a time the prospect of pirates did not excite me. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater and thought it was fun but, really, how great could a movie based on an amusement park ride be? I received the dvd as a Christmas present and was actually a little disappointed. I look back on that attitude now and all I can do is shake my head in shame. *sigh*
A few years have passed and now Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is coming out and I am so excited I can hardly see straight! There will be sword fights! And daring escapes! And adventures on the High Sea! It'll be wonderful.
In honor of this momentous occasion and as a repentant gesture for my former attitude, I've decided to host a pirate ficathon. It'll be an anything goes sort of experience where a writer can use characters from any fandom or none at all, just so long as the story is about pirates, be they historical or modern.
And now, I officially unveil A Pirate's Life For Me: A July Celebration of Pirates (in Fic Form)! Go on! Check it out! I promise they won't bite, unless you want them to. =D
