(no subject)
May. 9th, 2006 08:35 amSo I was thinking that I need a new default icon. I still love my old one for nostalgia purposes but it's just, yeah, I need a new one. Unfortunately I have approximately zero time to spend looking for pictures and cropping and polishing a fact which, when realized, made me frown. Then I said to myself, "Self, there's a way around this. Your birthday is in a few weeks and I'm sure someone on your f-list would be happy to make you a shiny new default icon."
"I can't ask that of them." I replied. "They're busy people too and it would be all weird and grabby of me."
"Ha HA! Don't look now but you've already gone and asked them for it! The eljay doesn't lie."
"D'oh. Oh well, it would be awfully nice, I suppose."
"Darn right it would be nice. Now you should bribe them with fic."
"Done and done." So, yeah, if anyone wants to make me an icon I'll write you something since I'm fairly good at writing fic but mostly kinda sucky at making icons. Except for my spooky!Frodo icon, that one turned out really well.
I watched the pentultimate episode of SPN season one last night and I had all sorts of thinky thoughts as I was falling asleep and now I can't remember what they were. I'll be sure to meta on about it all later. I will say that that was the best episode yet of the season with strong writing, strong acting, and an over-all sense that the show is really going places. I was completely spoiled and yet completely overwhelmed by what was going on. My crappy little show with hot guys is actually getting kinda good, soon I might not need to feel shame for loving it the way that I do. Dude, a pig just flew past my window! *gapes*
Have started listening to the classical music station at work (the office can be awfully quiet) and have observed that Mozart is to clasical stations as Metallica is to rock stations. Just as the local rock station play Metallica at certain, specified times of the day so too does the classical station play Mozart at certain, specified times of the day. I was amused and happy with my choice because I love Mozart a whole heck of a lot more then I love Metallica. The Wrestler would gladly disown me for a statement like that, especially considering the apoplexy he had when I said that I wanted the local rock station to play less AC/DC. Seriously guys, a little goes an awfully long way, mostly because all their songs sound the same (at least to me).
One last thing. I have decided that when I attended Hogwarts I never dated fellow Ravenclaws because they were way too weird and lacking in the common social graces and only wanted to talk about the intricacies of potions or the mechanics of time-turners and bleh, none of that makes for a good date. Hufflepuffs will take you dancing and Gryffindors will do quirky things like picnic in the Forbidden Forest and Slytherins have all the best gossip so, sorry housemates, you'll have to do without the pleasure of my company, or something. =D
I'd say that fandom has made me crazy but I have a sneaking suspicion that I was unbalanced a long time before I discovered the joys of fannish experience.
ETA: I forgot to announce, Fox has picked up a show for next season called Primary about hostage negotiators. I bring this up because it stars Ron Livingston and Gina Torres. That's nearly too much pretty for one place. All shall worship the Vortex and despair.
