Am feeling surprisingly chipper this morning even though I slept like crap last night and woke up with a headache. But chipper. I am a strange, strange creature. =D

The power went out in my apartment last night at around 9PM or so. I started having flashbacks to the Great Blackout of 2003 and bemoaning the fact that I had no candles. How can I not have any candles?! When the End Times come I must be prepared in all ways possible. Thankfully the power came back on before the sun went down (thank you summer!) and I had a little battery operated fan to keep me company. It's a very good fan. *pets*

It's hot and I want to go to the beach. I should find out if I have any extra vacation time that I can burn off and then I can grab a tent and the Pup and spend a long weekend out at Lake Michigan. That would be wonderful.

Maybe I shouldn't have taken two Excedrin and then drank a 24 oz. Diet Coke. I might be a little overly caffeinated and scattered at the moment. Lalala ;-)

Word Origin of the Day: On The Lam - Although now obsolete, "lam" was once used as a verb to mean "to hit" or "to beat." One form of this background still exists, as the English word "lambaste." In its original form, this phrase was "to take it on the lam," referring to "a beating or other form of physical punishment." One explanation is that "on the lam" followed as the result of such painful activity, as in running away to excape further harm. Another possibility is a simple slang variation on the phrase, "beat it," another phrase used with the same meaning. In this case words with the same meaning replaced each other.
