Bad Little Citizen
Nov. 5th, 2003 09:20 amI was a bad little citizen of the republic yesterday. You see, instead of going to vote like any good citizen did, I went over to Dan's place and he, Heather and myself had a movie night. So, I shirked my civic responsibilities to go have fun with the friends. And, I have to tell you, I had a lot of fun;-). We ate turkey burgers and then watched Neverwhere on DVD. I was pleasantly surprised by how the Neverwhere mini-series had turned out. I had heard bad things about the translation to video for the BBC and how Mr. Gaiman, himself, wasn't 100% thrilled by how things had come across. True, the production values were awful and the SFX stunk but the script and acting were so spot on and entertaining that I was willing to forgive the mini-series' other faults. A jolly good time was had by all and hopefully Dan and I will soon have a convert to the wonderful world of Gaiman (Heather will cave, I'm sure of it;-).
One last note on Neverwhere. I have to admit that I fell in love with the Richard Mayhew character just a little bit. It was part accent, part normal human with a heroic streak that did it for me. Of course, it's always about the accent;-).
The day is looking to be chilly and wet. Sigh. However, there is one bright spot. I found my absolute favorite licorice candy over at a local health food store. I love the Panda Licorice Bars that originally come from Finland. They're amazingly delicious.
