There's a whole lot going on at the liptonrm offices at the moment, so the update for today is rather short. We're going to have a look at an extrememly trippy music video for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Kevin Smith's newest project has been announced (and it has to do with a comic book, whod'a thunk it;-) and a little look at fantasy film-making in a post-LotR world.

You know, sometimes I want to be one of those people who has the cool Hollywood connections and gets to talk to directors and producers and actors. Then of course, I remember I'm a big dork and I'd probably just say really stupid things if I ever did meet those sorts of people (if I could manage to speak at all;-). That doesn't dampen my deep-seated desire to someday work for WETA, but they're all a bunch of dorks over there anyway, so I'd fit right in. Anyway, the whole point of this ramble has been to inform you that the group over at Ain't It Cool News has been given the opportunity to host the premiere of a music video to the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and I am both intrigued by the video and jealous of all their Hollywood connections;-). You have to check this out, though, it's one trippy little video that looks normal at first but... well, you'll see what's so weird about it. It's teh cool.

Did you know that there's going to be a remake of Pet Semetary? I've never even seen the original and now they're doing a remake. That's kind of random, I didn't think it was all that old. Apparently there's a rumor floating around that now George Clooney is connected to the project in some way. Hmmm, whatever.

There's a new poster floating around for the next Harry Potter movie. It effectively captures the creepier, darker tone of both the third book and the trailers for the movie that have already been released. I'm looking forward to some fairly freaksome Dementor action come June.

With the release of Hellboy, Spiderman 2 and The Punisher upcoming within the next few months it doesn't look like the comic book movie genre is going to end anytime soon and that's a good thing. Shoot, even duds like The League of Extraordinary Gentleman make a hell of a lot of money. Today there's some news about two comic book projects, one that is near and dear to my heart and another that I know hardly anything about but will probably see anyway;-). Christopher Roven, one of the producers on the latest Batman movie (with the working title of Batman Begins) had some things to say about the movie and the ways in which the story will be told. That interview can be found here. And Kevin Smith has announced that his next project will be an adaptation of the comic The Green Hornet for the silver screen. He talks about what he'll be doing and how he'll be doing it here.

I'm sure a whole bunch of you have read Good Omens that hillarious religious comedy from those comic geniuses Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. I love that book, it's funny and insightful and if the world was going to end it would certainly be an interesting way to go. Well, apparently, Terry Gilliam had been contemplating helming a movie adaptation of the book, but it's still in development hell and may never truly escape. Damnit, I want to see that movie, it'd be like Monty Python on crack, with angels and demons and the anti-christ with his little dog, too;-). Anyway, there's a bit of discussion of Terry Gilliam and his current and hoped-for projects, check it out.

Roven Talks Grimm, Omens

Did you know that a whole bunch of movie studios have jumped on the fantasy film bandwagon? They want to make billions of dollars just like New Line did with Lord of the Rings and they're willing to shill each and every fantasy work until they hit cinema gold. LotR will always have its imitators and just like it changed the face of modern popular writing it now looks ready to change the face of modern popular cinema. The Philidelphia Inquirer has published an interesting look at the future of fantasy films.

I can't believe I forgot the daily trailer spam! Today's featured trailer is a look at a recently released movie called The Reckoning starring Paul Bettany and Willem Dafoe in what I have heard called "an episode of medieval Law & Order". Of course I want to see a movie if it has anything to do with Law & Order (Call me Lenny!) The trailer looks good and I <3 Paul Bettany a whole lot. Here it is, for your viewing pleasure.

The weather is pretty awful today, so we all need to wrap up in a blanket, sit down on the couch and let the dulcet sounds of the DVD player carry us into Wednesday. Stay warm today!

Never read it *Hides under table*I've read a couple of Discworld though, which is by the same author, and I thought they were really funny. Will keep an eye out.

They're making a film of His Dark Materials...Yippeee, Oh I hope they make it really good. I love that trilogy.

Where do I get all of this stuff? I'm just a movie rumor whore, is what I am. I go to all sorts of sites, like AICN (http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com), CHUD.com (http://www.chud.com) and TORn (http://www.theonering.net), just to name a few. Movies are my one true love;-).

Hee hee, you may have never read Good Omens but I've never read His Dark Materials so I guess we're even;-). And all hail the Hellboy! I am totally geeked to see that movie.
