Entertainment Crack, vol. 3
Mar. 8th, 2004 09:00 amHappy Monday! In the hope of making your Monday mornings a little less-productive and a little more intersting, I present another hit on ye ol' crack pipe of entertainment info and rumors. Sit back, relax, and let the beautiful minutiae carry you away...
We'll start the week off with a report and a trailer. The Box Office statistics have been tabulated and The Passion of the Christ is still dominating the competition. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is back up in the top ten after its sweep at the Oscars and Hidalgo rode hard to come in for a bronze. Check out the whole list here at chud.com.
It looks like Jack Black, perennial favorite in the lipton household, is teaming up in a movie with Ben Stiller and an interesting ensemble cast including the likes of Rachel (The Mummy)Weisz and Christopher Walken. I don't know much about the movie itself, but the trailer is a lot of fun and well worth a look.
Envy Trailer
What, Sarah Michelle Gellar is actually in a movie that doesn't include CGI dogs? Who'd'a thunk it. Smilin' Jack Ruby over at chud.com has posted his report of a set visit he did for the movie The Grudge starring the former vampire slayer, Clea DuVall and Jason Behr. It's based on a blockbuster Japanese horror movie and apparently has something to do with a haunted house, though plot details are being kept under heavy wraps. Considering how much that other Japanese horror remake, The Ring, scarred me for life, I probably won't be seeing this one, no matter how intriguing it looks. I'm tempted, though, highly tempted. Anyway, take a look at the set visit, there's some intersting information included therein.
Set Visit: The Grudge
Dark Horizons has reported some intersting little rumors and tidbits about various projects many of us are intersted in. They stem from the possibility of Hugh Jackman being in a third X-Men movie to Nicole Kidman having a role in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Fascinating stuff.
Sequel Gossip
'Lion', 'Six', 'Alias' and 'Grudge' Film News
A start of production add has also been run in New Zealand newspapers for Lion. Check it out here.
For your LotR news of the day. TORn has posted a press release with information on the release of the theatrical edition of Return of the King. I can't wait, it'd make a great birthday present (we wants it, precious;-).
RotK DVD Press Release
It appears that Howard Shore and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra will be performing a 2-hour symphony based on his LotR score. I can't express how much I want to see this and I think I would sell a kidney if I could be a part of it. Wow, just wow.
T.O.'s Oscar Comes Home
And I thought Mondays would be slow movie days. Shows how much I know;-). To wrap up today's edition I want to include some movie reactions/reviews that I've seen appear from you guys lately. On the Hidalgo front both
shirebound and
elendiari22 have seen it and have this and this to say about it.
The Passion of the Christ has sure fueled a lot of controversy and it appears to be one of those love-it or hate-it type of movies.
europanya,
oselle, and
hlgraban have all seen it and have some very interseting things to say about the experience. You can check out their reactions here, here, and here. I <3 my movie going friends;-).
May the week be joyful and productive!
