Jul. 9th, 2007 10:43 pmThe heat finally got to me this afternoon and I escaped to the cool confines of the bookstore. I wandered the rows not buying anything (because I have no money) and talking to fangirls on my phone. I got some strange looks because head-sets really do make you look like you're talking to yourself. At one memorable point
hiyacynth and I were talking about something inappropriate involving Dean Winchester (it's hard to remember the specifics as inappropriate things make up at least 90% of our conversations) when I realized I'd unwittingly wandered into the Bible aisle. I backed out quickly. There are just some things that I can't discuss around Bibles. ;-)
Also accomplished some writing, which is good. I've been lazy lately, making excuses about not being "in the mood" or stupid stuff like that. Talked some Harry Potter with the Baylor Sister. She reported that she'd given the Baylor Cousin my Ron-fic and that it traumatized her because it was so sad. On one hand: Yay! having my story effect someone that strongly is awesome! On the other hand: I hope I haven't turned her off of fanfic for life seeing as it was her first experience.
Speaking of, if anyone can point the way to some really vanilla HP fic that would be awesome. The Baylor Cousin loves Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione. She has absolutely no clue about the kinds of things tha fanficcers like to write about so we'll have to work her into slash and crazy AUs slowly. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
As much fun as John Barrowman is as Jack Harkness he's even better when he's singing. For proof I give you YouTubed performances of Anything Goes and I Am What I Am. He has a fantastic voice and spectacular stage presence.
Sometimes I really miss musical theatre.
Dammit, RealPlayer just lost all of my latest mixes. I'm gonna have to rebuild at least two of them from memory because they weren't finished yet. Son of a bitch.
But I'm determined to end on a happy note. Picked up my mail today to find the most beautiful postcard from Jerusalem right on top. Thank you, Erin! It's lovely! And I can't wait to read more about your adventures over on your blog.

Date: 2007-07-11 04:58 am (UTC)Oh, I'm absolutely aware that not everyone is slash-oriented. I read quite a bit of it because I'm a sucker for a well-told story but I don't innately slash characters. For example, while I can easily see why people could construct a sexual relationship for Frodo and Sam that was never the story I was primarily interested in reading.
But, like I said, I'll happily read nearly anything so long as the story is told well. Which is why I'm so pleased that you've written something I can pass along because I know that it will be fantastic.
