A Little Intro

Was discussing my early days on the internet today and realized that now was as good a time as any to take the time and put up a little introduction of myself and an explanation of my general fannish activities. \m/


First I should offer up some general background information. I'm female from a middle-class family, the oldest of three (I had the delight of keeping two younger brothers in line). I was born and raised in Michigan which means that I have an appreciation for our Canadian neighbors and a tendency to mock all things Ohio. I earned a BA in history from the University of Michigan and am currently attending law school (yes, I am crazy).

I'm a Mormon and served a mission in South Texas. I'm the requisite dirty hippie of my family which means that I'm a moderate liberal who wants to save the environment and thinks that everyone should be allowed to think and believe what he/she/it wants to think and believe. I'm a big fan of open discussion and respectful debate but mean-spirited arguments make me run and hide. I'm also a big fan of speaking the truth and understanding a subject from every possible point of view. I'm a staunch feminist and not ashamed to own that title.

I think that stories are vitally important and that fiction holds more truth than most people realize.


I've been a member of fandom for over a decade. Pretty much upon discovering the internet for the first time I discovered fan fiction and I've been devouring it ever since. I "bursted" onto the scene in time to hit the heyday of X-Files fandom and moved from there to Buffy to hobbits to Band of Brothers and am currently firmly ensconced in Supernatural. Me and fandom are old friends and I love it a lot, even when wank is threatening to consume it whole.

I write fanfiction which is archived in its own lj creatively entitled liptonrm_fic. I'm not a shipper or a slasher by nature but I read and love pretty much everything. I'm notoriously bad at commenting on fic and frequently my ingrained lurker tendencies get the better of me but I'm trying to overcome those faults, cross my heart.

Fandom is one of my favorite places to be. I've met some of my greatest friends because of shared online fannish enthusiasm. It's been a long, crazy ride and there are no signs that I'll ever be getting off.
