I was just over at the local Barnes & Noble. I was there buying music for fanmixes. Shut up, I need more rock. I'm notoriously stingy about actually buying music so plopping down 40 bucks was a big deal. Anyway, picked up some good albums and was then browsing around the store. Saw that Cassandra Claire's book was prominently positioned in the YA section and I busted out with a loud guffaw. I was all, 'Oh, honey, fandom has already chewed you up and spit you back out.' And then I had a discussion with myself about how fandom is like some strange amalgamation of a know-it-all university english department and a chatty social club. We also eat our own young.

I amuse myself. =D

I cannot for the life of me focus, which is tremendously of the bad when finals are in ... two weeks, pretty much. Son of a bitch. I need to outline like mad.

But it's so much more fun to listen to music and think about Winchesters. I am such a lazy smart person it's not even funny. Seriously, I have to battle my procrastinatory tendencies every single day.

Caught the first half of Jericho and came to the stunning conclusion that most of their problems in that episode would have been resolved if they'd had a lawyer. There were contract disputes and negotiations with other towns and I never realized how useful the skills I'm learning now will be in the post-apocalyptic world. o_0

Hee, that reminds me. Ya'll should've seen me watch 'Something Wicked' last night. It was kinda embarrassing. I think I'm extra-hormonally crazy, or something.

*sigh* I wish I could write song lyrics. I'm a singer and it would be kind of nice to sing my own material. Then I could be just like all of the angry, chick folk singers that I listen to.

Oooo, there's new Who tonight? Fantastic. *stalks dl comm*

ETA: DOCTOR!!!!!!!! *flails* I am full of love right now. TV is so good to me. YAY!!!!!

I'm curious...is "Cassandra Clare" her real name? I always thought it was her fandom name, and if so, it seems kind of odd that her publishing company would be okay with fanfic author publishing original fiction under her very well-known fandom name.

OMG, I am so sorry it's taken me so long to respond.

Re: Cassie Clare. From what I can gather from the internets Cassandra Clare is her fandom name and she was able to use her popularity in HP and from the Very Secret Diaries to get her publishing deal.

It does seem odd that the publishing company would be all right with that but it seems to be the case. Strange but true.
