It snowed last night! Yay! There was an ice storm over the weekend so now the world is a wonder of white and crystal and with the sun shining bright as it is right now everything is quite literally dazzling.

Have to admit, I don't hate the cold. I actually kind of really like it. Winter has its own beauties.

Attended a Fangirl Gathering over the weekend. We analyzed 'Hunted', discussed character motivations, talked about fics in varying states of completion, watched the emo!highlights of season 2 in order to reinterpret some things w/r/t The Big Secret.

Wow, that sounds kind of smart and shit. Ummmm, in case anyone get the wrong idea I have to let you know that the great bulk of the time was spent ... appreciating the finer aspects of the way Sam and Dean fill out their jeans and imbuing each and every thing any of us said with the filthiest possible meaning, especially if it was said in relation to Winchesters. And don't worry, John got more then his fair share of love in that regard.

We also watche The Outsiders (which [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr and Her Sister made me read on Friday before they would let me see the movie. It was good (if vaguely inappropriate in spots, I won't go into detail) and after seeing Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy fighting we had to watch John, Dean, and Sam interact in 'Dead Man's Blood'. Much to The Sister's distress everything, in the end, came back to Winchesters. She's gonna start blaming me for turning her sister into a crack addict. Unfortunately for her, my only response will be to crow in delight.

I think the only thing that didn't demand any Winchester allusions was when we watched On A Clear Day with our Delightful Billy. He was wonderful, the movie as a whole is wonderful, I highly recommend it. But that was pretty much the only holiday we took from Supernatural. Sure, we watched some s.1 Buffy to appease The Sister but that by its very nature invites the drawing of parallels. And strange desires to write crossovers where Sam was a student at Sunnydale High.

Unfortunately the weekend had to end. I came home to a very cold apartment (my heat was off the entire weekend, it's a long story) and divided my time between catching up on the internets (skip=220, people), reading Tort law while the Golden Globes were muted on the TV and a CD was playing on the stereo (though I did listen to Hugh Laurie's acceptance speech because he is awesome), and putting together a not nearly comprehensive enough list of SPN recs. I was up until 1:30 working on it, because I'm obssessive like that, but I'm still working to dig up stories that I loved but never bookmarked.

It looks like SPN fandom has hit the mid-season bump where camps are forming and coalitions are starting and people are seriously starting to meta everything. For the record, this is Switzerland and shall always remain so. Opinions are groovy and debate is righteous but I'm not gonna make any firm declarations until everything plays itself out. I was a history major, I analyze things much better in retrospect anyway. It's all about the squee, you guys.

I'm finally going to take down my Christmas tree today. *sigh* It's sad that all things end.

You guys need to start recording your fangirl sessions and posting them as podcasts. I am dead serious. I'd love to do one myself but there's only one of me and I'm boring as hell.

Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it!

x.

God, what WAS it that sent me into palpatations when I asked for a pause/rewind over Sam's hands on John's dogtags at Mary's grave? Where I had to stop talking, swallow hard, and shake off teh dirtywrong before I could continue?

She has a point. We are highly amusing :-)

Well, if you can't recall what had you in such a state I'm sure I can't. There was so much hand-flapping and dirtywrong indulgent rewinding that it's all kinda blended together into one long, lust-addled experience.

We're amusing and cute, it's a killer combination. ;-)

HA! Well, we are amusing and genius and I think we have the greatest ideas ever, but then I'm kinda biased.

Though, I'm not positive there's a recorder on the market that could pick up what we're saying, considering the high-pitched, flaily nature of most of our exchanges. ;-)

My brain keeps a'wanderin' over to Darry, Pony and Sodapop with SPN, on occasion. (Dean=Darry, Sam=Ponyboy. Yes? No?)

(...and thank you for the recs :D )

Opinions are groovery and I love a good debate but also I keep wondering, do we have to form camps? Why does it always have to be camps and lines in the sand and nicknames for supporters for different things? I agree with you also that waiting for it to play out is sometimes a good plan (I tend to react to this show in a very-moment-to-moment way, though).

mmm, the parallels between the Winchesters and the Curtises. Dean does have a lot of Darry in him but my instinctual classification was John=Darry, Dean=Sodapop. I'm right there with you wrt Sam=Ponyboy, that one's pretty blatant.

(re: recs, well of course, you are a genius, after all)

*sigh* I'm equally as baffled with the idea of fannish camps. How can anyone claim to be a fan of one Winchester and not love the other two? I mean, I have a Winchester with whom I identify more strongly but that doesn't diminish in any way, shape or form the great love I have for all of our boys. Factions and lines in the sand just don't make any sense.

Oh well, all of us neutral lovers of All Things Winchester will be in our little corner of the fandom sandbox enjoying our show. The factions can have their little squabbles or whatever.

We ARE smart. And also filthy. And that's why we are so wonderful all together.

BTW, OMG FIC RECS LIEK WHOA!!! *humps your recs list while bookmarking it*

We're like The Inklings, in a way. Except less with the academia and more with the smuttines. ;-)

And that's only a fraction of them! I'm still updating the list like crazy.

The Drinkling Winklings, more like it.

Hmm, I do enjoy the pastime of eyeing cute hot white boys and studying how they fill their pants. Which reminds me: as yet no Mormon boys at my door. I put in an order, like, two years ago.
