Fangirl Weekend was a ROUSING success. Much fun was had by all, myself included. And I'm sure no one will fault me if I crow a little about winning Fangirl Jeopardy and attaining both the title of Ultimate Fangirl and a Ken-doll Legolas of my very own. What does this all prove? That being in third place for the entire game doesn't matter just so long as you know the answer when it counts and are playing with people who have similar betting strategies. Though, I do think that "Sucks your mother, Trebek" is the best possible response.

[livejournal.com profile] baylorsr is an Evil Genius. If the world were a perfect place we would play Fangirl Jeopardy every day of the week.

We all saw X3 on Saturday and it was an almost great movie. There were so many great possibilities that were never fully explored and great character moments that introduced developments that were dropped by the middle of the movie. I didn't like the way they handled Jean's story and I didn't like the way they ended it even though it started off so perfectly.

The best bits were whenever Xavier and Magneto were onscreen at the same time. I admit it, I cried when the Professor died and I cried even more in that last scene which had Magneto sitting by himself, powerless, staring at a chess board with no one to play against. *sniffle* Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan must make more movies together. They're onscreen time has consistently been the best parts of any of the X-Men movies, in my opinion. I heard that they were going to do a film adaptation of The Merchant of Venice set in modern Las Vegas which would be one of the greatest things ever, if it actually came to pass.

The one way in which X3 surpassed its predecessors was in action. The mutants actually used their powers in spectacular ways and left real destruction in their wake. Singer was great in that he took the thematic comic underpinnings seriously and crafted a movie with deep, complex characters but he never had a satisfactory handle on the spectacle. Ratner did a good job of illustrating how dangerous mutants could be in their own right and how that could be so frightening to general suburbia.

So, X3 blew shit up real good but failed with the broader story aspects. I'm glad I went and it was definitely worth the ticket price but I won't need to see it eleventy million times like I did Batman Begins. Though I might have to see it one more time because I hear there was a post-credits scene that I missed entirely.

On Sunday we had a High Tea that would have put the meals of Bag End to shame. 'Twas delicious and delightful. There is nothing better then good times, good food, and good hobbits. I'm already in fangirl withdrawl and imagine I will stay that way for a while.

The Wrestler leaves for Basic on Wednesday and is already in the hotel waiting to leave. He had to go early because of something having to do with his security clearance. Since he joined the National Guard he'll be returning home in 10 weeks, only to move out in time to go to school in the fall. I'm curious to see how he's going to react to it all. The boy's always wanted to join the military and now we get to see if it lives up to his expectations.

I'm so gorram tired. Stupid work.

If only we could get Singer and Ratner in bed together ... but that's a whole nuther class of narcotics. ;-)

I haven't watched it yet but I've spoiled myself for it very thoroughly and I aim to enjoy it. Even if they exchanged Cyke for That Damned Hairy Midget in what should have been the Buffy-Evil Angel Climax to Archetype Them All. alas, Marsden was in bed with Singer over in Superman.

Yes, you missed a 30-second "omgwtf" scene at the end.

I hear Kelsey Grammer was delicious as Beast.

Well, if Superman and Lex Luthor can have a clone child then anything is possible ...

Yeah, I'm still disappointed about Cyke's fate. Especially since they hardly even touched on it. Of course, there isn't a body and well, we all know what that means in comic book logic.

Kelsey Grammer was the perfect Beast. The movie might've had script problems but the casting was divine.

All Hail the Ultimate Fangirl!

You win at life! I'm still disappointed by how mightily I fell by messing up questions I knew the answers to. Oh well. At least I went down in style ("So'd your mother, Trebek").

We missed a post-credit scene?? Okay, then, I'm going back.

Yeah, it's now nearly 2, and I'm still in SPW, sorting music. Work? Me?

Miss you!

I, too, have lost entire days to SPW. Why, just last night I finished up my third, and final, SPW canon mix. If only I had music here at work I would never accomplish anything ever again.

What I hear about the post-credit scene fills me with GLEE. *twirls*

When the Apocalypse comes it will be Fangirl Weekend everyday of the week!
