May. 26th, 2006 11:33 amSo I'm sitting here with nothing in particular going on. Sure, there are a couple work-type things I could be doing but, really, who wants to do any work? It's boring. Plus I'm tired and want to take a nap. But mostly I want to go down to FGC because the Memorial Day shindig starts tonight and I CAN'T WAIT.
Made a Tres Leches for the festivities. It's one of my most favorite cakes, a Mexican dessert I was introduced to in Texas that is never not delicious. I'll also be preparing a meal on Saturday of Salmon with Sesame and Orange-Ginger Relish and Rice Pilaf with Peas and Pine Nuts. Have I mentioned lately how much I love cooking? Because I really do.
I also love Mozart. Oh how do I ever.
Just spoiled myself for X3. Note to self: If the cut says spoilers then don't click on it. It's your own darn fault if you do and then discover things that you didn't want to know.
Over in her journal,
claudia603 is asking people to rec their favorite self-authored fics and I thought that was a great idea. So, dear f-list, rec me the stories of which you are ridiculously fond, no matter the fandom. What good is lj if we can't use it as our own mutual appreciation society?
Time passes much too slowly, I'm just sayin'.

Date: 2006-05-26 03:40 pm (UTC)And its companion, "Girl of the North Country"?
I realized that TF/GotNC is thematically and structurally the same as Homecoming: California and Homecoming: Joe.
Tonight I attempted to do a Smoked Salmon Pasta with Greek Yogurt and Arugula, but had no Smoked Salmon so just used canned; no Greek Yogurt, so tried lowfat milk; too much lemon zest; no fresh dill; and too much arugula. bleargh. Moral: you get what you pay for/ not everything can be substituted.

Date: 2006-05-26 04:40 pm (UTC)It's funny, I also find myself telling the same stories over and over again. I could get all philosophical about it but I will spare you that and instead say that a good story is a good story, no matter how many times it's reimagined.
Oh food. How you taunt us with your cheap substitutes and short-cuts that don't quite work. If cheap tasted as good as ridiculously expensive then everyday life would be so much tastier (and economical;-).

Date: 2006-05-26 04:30 pm (UTC)a) That first XF story. No one reads that, as it is total crap.
b) The Dawnepic of doom, which I would send to you except that my computer is dead and I can't get to it and I wasn't allowed to house it at the big Buffyfic archive for content reasons.
c) The Spike/Willow PWP
La lala lalala I do not want to be spoiled, please inform all at FGC la lalal thank you

Mozart is the King, pure and simple. Have you heard Figaro? It's probably the number one thing I listen to right now. Go rent the movie Amadeus, too, if you haven't seen it, because it is one of the most awesome things ever. :)

Date: 2006-05-31 01:11 pm (UTC)I love Figaro. One of my favorite solo pieces in high school was from it, even though I don't think I ever actually sang it in public. Wow, I kinda miss voice lessons.
So Mozart = Aragorn except with better music and crazier hair. Though Aragorn wins the Dirtiest Hair contest, hands down. =D

Date: 2006-05-27 11:29 am (UTC)Of course right now I'm blissfully in love with my challenge story, The Citadel (http://www.mothtoaflame.com/springfic06/citadel.html) It's definitely the story that I've put my heart and soul into the most. :-) It's got some NC17 parts way farther up (it's a long story), but other than that, it's pretty tame! ;-D
OMG YOU COOK SO GOOD
Date: 2006-05-30 03:15 pm (UTC)Thanks again, dearie!
