Back at ye ol' job. Oh joy oh rapture. The only good thing about this (besides the money) is the fact that I'm much more organized and proactive when I'm at work. Things like filling out student loan applications actually get done in a timely manner when I'm doing them in a business setting. I guess that when my time is my own I fritter it away on the highly addictive substance that is fandom but when I'm once again a wage slave I'm all kinds of efficient. The things we learn about ourselves.

However, this all means that I am extremely bored. So, if anyone wants to give me a drabble prompt or have a discussion about anything whatsoever I would greatly appreciate it. I've got about 5 more hours left here. *counts the minutes*

I'll have to remember to bring my fic notebook tomorrow.

The Da is off to do some lobbying in D.C. I'm doing a great job of hiding how giddy the whole idea of my father lobbying congress makes me. I think I've been watching/thinking about too much season one West Wing. It's just, he's going to be lobbying Congress with a national environmental association. And his hotel is right next to the Library of Congress. It is all so gleeful.

And suddenly I have the sneaking suspicion that I am a big ol' public policy dork. Once again my nerd colors fly proud and true.

I think the Big Lug has a Girl. Okay, maybe more of a lower-case-g girl but, yeah, either way this makes me smile. The idea of my ickle brothers dating makes me want to pinch their cheeks.

So, prompt me. Make me think so that my brain isn't a puddle of goo by the end of the day.

ETA: So apparently the president of Walden Media is saying that they want to film Prince Caspian, Dawn Treader, and Silver Chair fairly close together in order to make an "interlocking trilogy", whatever that means. He has also said that Prince Caspian may be delayed until Christmas 2008 for FX purposes. WTF?! One more whole year?! I might die of waiting.

Okay, well, you know how we were discussing how HBO could possibly stage the Battle of Actium in Rome 2? Well, I found out how "Empire" did it.

They didn't.

They didn't have any Second Triumvirate at all.

Apparently Octavian defeats Antony in Italy and begins the Pax Romana twenty years sooner.

Apparently "Empire" comes from the "Gladiator" school of Roman history.

... but, again, there was a big battle scene, which "Rome" didn't. Sigh.

Oh, also, not only was Tipper there, but who shows up in this last part? Mike Ranney.

HA! Of course not. Oh Hollywood, you and your bad history. Thank goodness we're smarter than you.

It is quite a testament to my love of Gladiator that I happily handwave the bad history. It is alt-historical fantasy, doncha know. ;-)

You know what all of this means? It just means that one of us, any of us, has to become that big producer who not only tells good, historically accurate stories but also has the sense to include all of The Boys in the production. Because while Empire wins the BoB contest (Tipper & Ranney to Harry Welsh, though the argument could be made that Harry is worth something like 5 smaller parts) and for having an actual battle, Rome certainly wins the historically accurate prize.

It's like Benedick and Don Pedro, between the two of them they make one good sort of mini.

Ah, but Tipper is also in Rome, as "Antony's Tribune" in 2 episodes, woohoo!

And "Rome" shares a writer/director with BoB. What's his name. The guy who directed Ep. 9 wrote one of "Rome"'s episodes.

I luv IMDb.

Benedick and Don Pedro? I know the character names, but in reference to what TV is this being to be relationizing?

Okay, note to self, always check IMDb when making broad media claims. ;-)

Benedick and Don Pedro? I know the character names, but in reference to what TV is this being to be relationizing?

See, this is why being inside my head is so dangerous. In Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing there is a scene where Beatrice is talking to her family about Benedick, the guy she always fights with, and Don Pedro, the Prince of Aragon. She states that between them they have the attributes to make "one good sort of man." So Empire and Rome combined would make a pretty kick ass television event

It's a good thing I wasn't an english major because I think I've now both under and over-explained the same analogy. =D

Damn, should've picked up Cyn's 'fuckin' nuts' icon because I so totally am.

To make matters worse I think I'm mixing up Shakespeare and Austen and OMG! I never meant to let anyone ever see this side of my crazy!

Well, if you want to write me a drabble about Sirius Black, I wouldn't complain. :)

What is up with pushing CAspian back another year?! That is not on!

Sirius Black, eh? That, my friend, is a true challenge. I will see what I can do.

I KNOW! Waiting till 2007 was bad enough but 2008?!!! I'm hoping that the people at Disney overrule that little policy decision.

Oh so they are making Prince Caspian then. I didn't know that anything had been finalised ^_^

I still haven't seen the first film yet.

Did you just use a Josh Lyman icon? *loves you forever*

Yeap, they're making Prince Caspian. From what I know they're currently working on the script but should hopefully begin filming in Ireland any month now.

I've been known to get a little crazy over the first film. It's just all my childhood fantasies come true (which is to say that you must see it, unless it isn't all your childhood fantasies come true because I wouldn't want you to see it and hate it just because I'm a raving loon;-).

You know you want to write me a Eustace drabble. Stick that boy in a lost scene with any of the characters he met, and I'll be happy.

p.s. I rilly love Reepicheep.

Eustace and Reepicheep? Man, everyone's making me work really hard on these drabbles. Thank goodness I don't actually have any real work to do.

I'll get right on that.
