It's official. I love Dr. Who. Full stop.

I never thought I'd love this show because I remember it. I remember the Da turning it on in the middle of the day on Saturdays when I was a wee sprog. I remember the noises and the campiness and before last year had absolutely zero desire in becoming better acquainted with it. But the internet was persuasive and the promos on SciFi were awfully shiny so I sat down and gave it a looksee last night. Boy am I happy I did.

Sidenote: Watched it with the Da, of course. He was the more excited party because he was quite the fan back in his frat days, apparently. At one point the Mum sat down and started talking about politics and this and that and he kept on turning up the volume till she got the right idea. Don't come between the nerds and their Doctor plzkthx. =D

It's so shiny and funny and Christopher Eccleston is wonderful and so is Billie Piper and I love it with all of my heart. It's been a while since a show has made me laugh and choked me up a little bit all in the same episode. Once again our good friends at the BBC have come through for me. I should send them a fruit basket, or something, to show my undying love and appreciation. And SciFi is starting to live up to its early promise. It might make the chessiest movies known to man and it may inflict us with week after week of Stargates but it also brings us things like BSG and Dr. Who and for that I thank them. Skiffy, there might just be hope for you yet.

Off to find fic. It's all so exciting.

Yay for Doctor Who! I've been looking forward to it hitting the States for a while. I loved the old Doctors (I had a terrible crush on Tom Baker when I was little, and then when Peter Davidson took over, I fell in love all over again). Christopher Eccleston really has a great feel for the role. I loved his mix of eagerness and big grins, mixed with that deep sorrow from being the only remaining one of his kind. *sigh*

It's completely satisfying and I even caught myself wishing the day after that there were more episodes on. I think it's one of those shows that I could watch over and over and over again and never grow tired.

*happy sigh*
