Nov. 26th, 2005 10:00 amIt's a winter wonderland outside. There was snow for Thanksgiving but last night another couple of inches silently fell. It was beautiful last night, there's something so amazingly peaceful and strangely gentle about a late night snow fall. Everything is silent save for the soft swishing noise of falling snow, almost as if the time has stilled.
The Da, the Big Lug, and the Wrestler spent yesterday tearing apart the upstairs bathroom. It's empty now, waiting to be refilled. Upon removing the tub they discovered that it was cast iron, not porcelain. Can you believe that, a cast iron tub? Believe you me, it was a bitch and a half to move. Not that I tried to help, I just stayed out of their way and corralled the dog (in my defense, it was very much a two man job).
As is appropriate, we watched Star Trek IV last night. It's a holiday tradition to watch Star Trek movies. (In fact the tapes that the Da had gotten about 10 years ago had been watched so often and were so worn out that we had to go out and buy the dvds for clarity's sake. </ tangent>) The Voyage Home isn't the greatest of the Star Trek movies but there's something awfully comforting about it. The jokes are still amusing and the chemistry between the cast is great. You can just tell that they were having a great time being together, filming another movie. Pumpkin pie and Star Trek movies = comfort food par excellance.
And because I haven't talked about it yet .
First off, Michael Cudlitz needs to get rid of the mustache. He's had it in every guest bit I've seen him in for the past year and I'm not a fan. Bad, bad, badbadbad.
And I did squeal when I saw his name in the credits. It was one of those spontaneous eruptions. ;-)
Wow, Ana Lucia has issues. You know, I wouldn't want to be all buddy-buddy with her if I were on the Island but as a character she's fascinating. A little bit of chaos thrown into the surprisingly static established relationships. I wonder what will come of it.
OMG, could Kate be more of a Mary Sue? Look at her outgolfing Jack and medicating Sawyer, isn't she amazing. </ sarcasm> She is and ever will be the Redneck Whisperer*.
Either Mr. Eko and Locke are going to hate each other or they will team up and become an indestructible force of coolness. I loved the bit where Jack was ranting and raving at Eko and Eko simply stood firm in convictions. It was his calm and his presence of mind that humanized the Tailies and Ana Lucia for Jack, thereby calming the situation to a manageable level. Definitely a force to be reckoned with.
I cried buckets when Bernard and Rose were reunited. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!! Thank goodness Joss Whedon isn't running this show or Bernard would be dead by the end of the season and if they kill him or Rose off I will THRASH THEM!
Things are changing and I can't wait to see what happens next. Thank you, writers of Lost for getting over the pedestrian season premiere and bringing the suspense and intrigue back. Kudos.
*tm someone at Fangirl Central who wasn't me.
A Jehovah's Witness just came by with a pamphlet. Poor guy, it's freezing out there.
