Dangit, I like Kelly Clarkson. I can't help it, she has a good voice and her songs are just too much fun. Plus her new album is much better then her first one (I hated that single from it, Miss Independent or whatever it was called, because it was a poppy song that pretty much said you can't be independent and fall in love at the same time which seems like the stupidest idea evar *corrals rabid inner feminist*). I love that my playlist has the Kyrie from Beethoven's Missa Solemnis directly preceding Kelly Clarkson's WalkAway. I am nothing if not eclectic.

I watched Empire last night. So, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, far from it. The dialogue wasn't always that great and the music frequently made me want to bang my head on the coffee table but the actors were uniformly good and the direction was great so that's all good. Plus the story was much better handled then that sprawling unfocused mess that is Into the West which is a nice bonus.

Sure, there's a lot of historical stuff that I'm not quite sure about. For instance, I highly doubt that Julius Caesar main goal was to give Rome back to the masses but since I haven't focused much study on Julius Caesar I don't hold any definitive opinions. There's all sorts of other things that didn't quite add up but, hey, Gladiator made a mess out of actual Roman history and I still adore that movie so it pays not to be too picky about these things.

I had an entertaining moment at the very beginning when they had a woman doing a bit of an expository voiceover. My thought was, "This seems an awful lot like that Dune miniseries. Wouldn't it be a hoot if some of the same people were involved?" and, come to find out, Empire was directed by Greg Yaitanes, the same man who directed Children of Dune. That had me giggling for a bit. Okay, more like the whole thing, I'm easily amused.

Final verdict, I'll keep on watching. It's a fun way to spend a Tuesday evening.

Ugh, this week could not go more slowly if it tried. Come on people you're supposed to be entertaining me! *pouts* *laughs at self*

ETA: Watched some of 28 Days last night, you know the rehab movie with Viggo and Sandra Bullock. Why did no one tell me that Alan Tudyk played the crazy German guy?! It's a bleh movie and a campy role but, dang, I didn't think I could love him any more then I already did. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
