Hey all. *waves*

Am feeling distinctly anti-social as of late. Probably has something to do with losing my job. I've been "laid off". Good side: I have till October to find a new job. Bad side: I only have a job till October. Hence the whole 'want to curl up in a ball and ignore the rest of the world' mentality.

The weekend was spent sprawled over my chair, sweating, watching brainless tv. I saw cheesy made-for-tv movies on ABC Family and The 4400 and the Tonys. I want to go to NYC and catch David Hyde Pierce and Alan Tudyk and Tim Curry in Spamalot so badly. Then I want to hang out with them and Hugh Jackman and James Earl Jones and Joanna Gleason and Dan Fogler and then I want to go and find Casey and Zeke and join the Resistance. Yeap, that's all I ask of the universe, though, if it could just get me plane/theatre tickets and accomodations I'd happily settle for just seeing the musical.

Word Origin of the Day: Empathy - Although "empathy" is a natural human emotion, the term itself is relatively new, first popping up in the early part of the twentieth century. The German author T. Lipps coined the term Einfuhlung in 1903 to refer to this condition of human nature, which popularized the notion and prompted a separate coinage in English. It comes from the Greek word empatheia, literally translated as "feeling inside."

Wow. Sorry about the job. I know you hate it as a rule, but still. Yoinks. Let me know if I can help. Meanwhile, I'm deploying paratroopers to divert you from your worries.

I'm sorry to hear about the job thing. Even though you didn't sound like you enjoyed it, it still must suck.
Sending lots of good thoughts towards Michigan for something really good to pop up for you.

I'm sorry to hear about your job. I know it's difficult to get right out there and search.

Aw, man! That sucks big time. Well, if you're good with computers, you can get a job at LiveJournal. It's a thought, anyway.

*hugs*

As my aunt used to say, "Life's a beach and then you drown."

Course, there could be a reason why we don't visit that particular aunt anymore ...

You're right, I don't like my job so, hey, at least this is a chance to get out of the procrastinating mood I've been in and get out there and find a job I might actually, you know, enjoy. What a concept! ;-)

*twirls around in good thoughts that are suddenly emanating the atmosphere*

Hee. Well, I am sure you will end up back on your feet with an even better job.

Like, costumed vigilante or something.

Now that I've had a chance to take a step back I think you're absolutely right. Good things will happen, I know they will.

Thank you!

The search is the absolute worst part. But hey, at least I'm not Frodo heading off to Mordor. For some reason thinking of that always puts things in perspective. =D

Dude! How did you know that I've been scouring the newspapers in search of that particular job?! I have a feeling that eccentric playboy billionaires don't advertise, however. Shucks.

Yeah, my husband's going through an awful job search right now and his field is so specialized that it's especially painful. :-p But yeah! Like the way you think! Frodo in Mordor vs. job search. Hmmmm...

Can't you get unemployment once your job is done? That will help!
