A few things.

Kevin Smith has seen Star Wars III and apparently loves it madly. Am not sure what to think. On one hand the trailer is pretty awesome, on the other hand Unca George has been smoking the good crack for quite a while. All I'll say is that I want Revenge of the Sith to kick my ass but am keeping my expectations low.

Michigan is the birth place of many interesting people. Jeff Daniels, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, J.K. Simmons, Timothy Busfield and Terry O'Quinn. I mention this because my hometown paper has an article on Mr. O'Quinn and Lost. It can be found here. I kind of love that man.

Some fun movies are coming out, starting with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Friday. Good times, good times.

I was watching "Spaced" today, and there was this hillarious scene where one of the characters burned all of his Star Wars memorobelia in reaction to "The Phantom Menace". He could no longer consider himself a Star Wars fan.

Oi, of course! One of my favorite parts of watching Home Improvement is playing the 'What Michigan College Shirt Will Tim be Wearing Today' game.

WOOT!

It's so true. *sniffle*

Dude, I wish Spaced was available in the States. I hear such great things about it.

It's not over there! Wow, strange. I thought you got all the shows first over there, even before us.

Nope. There are quite a few interesting shows that have yet to show up in the U.S. in any way, shape or form. Hollywood does not own as much of the entertainment universe as it purports.

Sometimes I find Kevin Smith's taste to be quite suspect. I just find myself wondering... has he finally done too many drugs? What's up? I find it entirely possible that it's good, and entirely possible that Kevin Smith had yet another moment of questionable sanity when he saw and reviewed the film.

I just had a yummy strawberry milkshake at lunch. That was awesome. The film? Dunno.

My friend Rich has decided to only watch really crappy movies until Episode III comes out, so as to lower his expectations of what a good movie would be.

Yeah, Kev can be kinda schizophrenic and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he was more excited about being one of the privileged few to see an early cut of the film. And he liked the earlier two films.

That's the idea! All films will now be judged on the strawberry shake scale of awsomeness.

Your friend Rich is a smart person. I would attempt something similar but find that I don't quite care enough to bother.

I am fully prepared to enjoy small moments of the film and despise the majority of it. For instance, the Megaman Light Saber Fight from the previews looks incredibly lame. Anakin stalking with his hood up is menacing and could be hella awesome.

Rich says he watches The Core -- the worst science movie ever made -- all the time on TV so that Star Wars will sound less dumb by comparison.

I caught a commercial yesterday where they had Padme saying something like, "Anakin, you're breaking my heart." My response was, "Natalie, I am so sorry that you have to say that line." It was painful.

But the images of Obi Wan and the lightsaber duel look hella cool.

Oi *wince* The Core, it burns.

Some images of the duels look cool -- Palpatine in the office with Mace Windu will be rad. Four on one, and you know he's going to win. Totally awesome. But there's one scene in the preview where the positions they're in -- one dude going up, one going down -- and the stances in the air remind me completely of Megaman. And that makes my heart hurt.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Unca George needs to stop smokin' the good crack and if he's not going to stop the least he can do is hand it out at showings of his movies.

Exactly.

Did you hear he's giong to be on the O.C. apparently?

From: [identity profile] liptonrm.livejournal.com
Yeah. He's going to be playing himself. I guess he'll do anything as long as it promises some kind of fellatio of the ego.

Hee. Yeah, it does seem that way, doesn't it?

Le sigh. When are they going to realize that all cool sci-fi films should be written by me, and give me the money and adulation I deserve? It's so hard being an underappreciated genius. =)

That second one? Guess whose office is involved in that little project? Sadly, have not been able to turn that connection into a free trip to Hawaii for us.

I followed the link - couldn't resist - got all spoiled and lemme say that I cannot wait to see the movie, even more than I wanted before *is in bad need of closure on this topic*
Thanks for sharing the link:)

That's right! I thought I remembered someone mentioning that.

You keep on working that connection. I have faith that it will eventually pan out and we will wing away to Hawaii to be with Dom.
