It's Alive!
Oct. 26th, 2004 12:13 pmWell, I'm back. The moving's all done, a couch has been delivered and I'm snug and warm in my very own smial/apartment. I always forget how quiet having one's own place can be, how the creaking of floor boards and the sound of water running in another apartment is almost a welcome relief. It's nice to be alone but it's also nice to know that there are other people around. I'll be glad to stay where I am for a while and not have to worry about packing all of my things up and transporting them to another place, especially since I now have a couch and I imagine it would be a pain in the neck to store.
I made some interesting discoveries in the past few days. For example: there were piles and piles of cotton fuzz under my bed that the Pup had pulled out of various pillows and comforters; the plates that I had used years ago in another apartment and had thought lost for good mysteriously turned up in a basked that the Da carried up from the basement; the great majority of the boxes I packed were filled with books; when left to my own devices I will sing along with the Dixie Chicks while organizing said piles of books into a system as clost to that used by the Library of Congress as I can manage.
Now, I must run and put out a brush fire. The Mum went by the apartment today to let the couch delivery guys in and now she can't get the door locked. I suppose domicile semi-ownership does have its drawbacks.
