Entertainment Crack
Sep. 14th, 2004 03:56 pmI saw Hero last night, and it was glorious. A review will be forthcoming, but I just have to say that it is easily one of the best films I've seen all year that left me breathless and awestruck.
Now, onto the Crack. There's a little of this and a little of that and a dabble of everything today, so let's get started.

Production Diary Day 6
Pendragon Films has announced that they will be releasing a faithful adaptation of War of the Worlds sometime in the Spring of 2005. This is rather exciting as faithful adaptations of sci-fi classics always excite me. Also, this is not the film that Spielburg and Tom Cruise have decided to work on, and that is a good thing.
War of the Worlds Begins
In that same vein, Kerry Conran, the director of the promising Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is apparently attached to direct the upcoming Princess of Mars movies now that Bryan Singer has gone on to make Superman. This just sounds right as Sky Captain looks as if it is striving to capture that retro sci-fi feeling that the Princess of Mars novels embody. I'm getting the feeling that it is a good time to be a sci-fi movie fan.
Conran Speaks
We all love zombies. Come on, admit it, zombie movies are some of the coolest things out there. I can remember being psychologically scarred by seeing the original Night of the Living Dead as a Halloween treat in middle school and I know I'm not alone in my fascination. See, because of the amazing showing that Resident Evil: Apocalypse did at the box office last weekend the big-wigs are already planning a third installment in the series. So, yeah, I know I'm not alone in my zombie lurve.
More Evil from the Residents
I've never seen a Chucky movie. I'm sure some of you probably think I'm deprived in some way, that my childhood was less because I never saw a doll wandering around trying to kill people. It's okay, I somehow survived and have gone on to admit that I will probably be seeing the next one that comes down the pipe. No, I'm it's not on my movie viewing list because I have a deep love of horror flicks (I leave that for
drunken_buzzard) but rather because one Billy Boyd will be voicing the titular Seed. I'm just shallow that way.

There's been a general consensus in the online community that genre TV this season is going to generally suck. Well, things just got worse, as Fox has moved Tru Calling's premiere date back till midseason and may just be cutting the number of episodes ordered. There is good news in the works, however, as both the WB and CBS have ordered genre-type pilots. It's just a sad situation in general.
Tru Calling Delay
Fic Updates: Heroes, a post-finale continuation of Angel the Series wherein the surviving heroes of both Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer unite to fight evil has been updated with Episode 1.10: Division.
Featured Trailer: The Motorcycle Diaries starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Rodrigo de la Serna. Directed by Walter Salles.
